Debbie Schlussel versus Sarah Palin (multiple articles)
debbieschlussel.com | 2008-2009 | Debbie Schlussel

Posted on 07/18/2009 4:29:37 PM PDT by EveningStar

I'm not a regular reader of Debbie Schlussel nor am I a fan (she seems a bit low class at times), so I just became aware of her criticism of Governor Palin.

If you scan the archives of her site debbieschlussel.com you will see that she was an early supporter of Sarah Palin. That makes her criticism all the more interesting.

Here are ten articles from Debbie's site. In the first one, she is still a Palin supporter, but also criticizes her for her choice of baby names. Beginning with the second article, she really begins to tear into her.

"A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs
which must not be compromised to political expediency
or simply to swell its numbers."

--  President Ronald Reagan

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn’t make any sense at all.""

--  President Ronald Reagan

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers, some of whom are currently working for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the White House,
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide, now working for McCain-Palin.
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
He's in charge on November 5th.'"
The Prowler added: "Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."
The Romney supporters in the McCain campaign had access to internal polling which indicated well in advance of the November 4 election that McCain had no chance to win.
So they began working to position their man Mitt for a run in 2012. Just two days after the election,The Palmetto Scoop reported:
"One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
These aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"Here’s what I think: I think there are some staffers on the McCain campaign who seriously screwed up the roll out of Sarah Palin, to which Governor Palin herself objected.
These staffers are now out trying to finish her off thinking, as typical D.C. types do, that if they don’t do it to her, she’ll do it to them. They just never understood who Palin is or what she is about."
"Likewise, I do think there are some staffers and others who expect Mitt Romney to run again in 2012,
they decided McCain could not win, and decided to undermine Sarah Palin and her chances hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign? (Mark Wallace, Romney pimp)
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

You asked why she changed her mind. i presented a reason, one that could be applied not only to the three I mention, but many others, eg, all the sods at National Review too.

Thay don’t all live on the east coast, they aren’t all harvard educated.

They have some things in common: RINOs and mainly Mitt supporters.

So, you asked the question and are dismissive of everyone’s response, tell me the answer please, and can I call you Debbie?

“You’re not allowed to publicly criticize a conservative hero. Our heroes are perfect. They do nothing wrong - it’s all the fault of the MSM and the RINOs.”

As Alexander Solzhenitsin said, “Evil people always support each other; that is their main strength.”

Or, to put it another way, “No enemies to the left.”

This stragedy and policy has served the leftards well. It’s a corollary of the venerable family tradition of “not airing your dirty linen in public.”

The forces of evil protect their own at any cost. We throw any transgressors to the wolves, publicly, thereby setting Satan’s minions up to claim that Pubbies are corrupt, while demonrats are pure.

We should refrain from airing our dirty linen in public. If one of ours needs to be disciplined or punished, we should take care of it in private, away from prying eyes and malicious tongues.

There is a multitude of idiots out there who really think that the right is more corrupt, vastly less honorable and honest, than the Barney Fags, Nancy Lugosis, and Dingy Harry Reids of the world.

Astounding? Of course, but that’s why we call the demonrats the evil party and the pubbies the stupid party.

That’s right, she isn’t. Schlussel’s a fringe extremist.

Alliances between people from opposite ends of the political spectrum in order to defeat a common enemy in the center are nothing new. Witness:

David Duke and Cindy Sheehan against the Iraq war

Pat Buchanan and Lenora Fulani against Bush and Gore

Christian Coalition and NOW against bikini magazines

Chuck Baldwin/Bob Barr/Ron Paul and Ralph Nader/Cynthia McKinney against McCain and Obama

Nazis and Communists against the Weimar Republic (the Nazis got rid of the Communists once they were in power and didn’t need them anymore)

And now, Debbie Schlussel (far right) and Peggy Noonan (liberal RINO) against Sarah Palin (mainstream conservative).

Yeah, Debbie does seem a bit on the fringe. She’s certainly shrill at times.

Your replies are not replies. It’s hardly surprising. No answers, best stick with those that have the answer. The word is Palin.

“So you have no issue with Palin’s lack of substance on issues”

You’re forgetting one thing: you can’t name an issue she lacks substance on.

This is because she’s one of the few with substance on issues.

"Never engaged her brain" seems about right. Maybe the names ate at her more than she admitted on Sept. 3, 2008.

If you treat it [naming a child] lightly or absurdly, I wonder how you make other decisions.

And I conclude that you don't really think too much or too hard. It may sound trivial or old fashioned to you, but her choice of kids' names makes me wonder all of these things about the woman who may be our next Vice President.

Even though I like Sarah Palin and I'm still voting for her, I wonder."

I guess this was the most substantive criticism she could muster up?

I used to have Debbie bookmarked and I read her day after day for several months. Slowly I realized that she was filled with jealousy and hate. A Jewish girl who disapointed her parents by not giving the grand-children. Her career came first.

I understand why she would attack Sarah. Jealousy.
