Earlier this week, ABC, CBS and NBC all noted the tenth anniversary of the death of John F. Kennedy, Jr. That Kennedy was an “icon” according to CBS’s Harry Smith, and “the Prince of Camelot” to ABC’s Chris Cuomo, a former cousin-in-law. Today marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, killed July 18, 1969 after leaving a party with Senator Edward Kennedy. That night, Kennedy drove his car off a bridge, and left the scene with Kopechne still in the submerged vehicle; he did not call the police until the following morning.
Over the course of the past four decades, the media elite have touted Kennedy as a “liberal lion,” spending far more time celebrating his ideological agenda than reminding people of his behavior that night in 1969. As my colleague Brent Baker noted in an op-ed back in 1999, the media have come to refer to Chappaquiddick as a “Kennedy tragedy,” not a “Kopechne tragedy.”

A Republican would be removed from office for a simple drunk driving offense...... Of course being a Kennedy, a certain organization has him covered.
It rubs me the wrong way that sometimes people talk about the tragedies of the Kennedy family.
The true tragedies were the assassinations of President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. Sometimes they lump self-inflicted wounds such as Chappaquiddick and the William Kennedy Smith rape case, and JFK Jr. crashing the plane. Self inflicted problems, brought on by wreckless behavior, is hardly the same as being shot to death.
The Kennedy’s are loved because the media spin the facts and many times ignore the facts. A freeper yesterday said she was hoping one day her state(MA) would go back to being republican
No chance that will ever happen, the media, the homosexuals and the Kennedy’s are in full control of that state Don't forget unions... not current union members per Se but the family members of former union members.
If great grampa worked for a tanning plant in Fall River where the union told him to only vote for Democrats he went home and forced his family to vote for Democrats as well. After a while reaching for the D lever becomes a conditioned response rather like Dr Strangelove and the Nazi salute.
When the Senator leaves this earth, he will be endlessly touted as a major hero. I think I’ll be watching a movie that day.
It made me sick to watch the HBO documentary of Kennedy’s life especially the part where Obama comes gives his speech about how great Ted Kennedy is!

Mr. and Mrs. Kopechne are now dead. However, you are correct about their silence.
But don’t forget, the voters of Massachusetts keep re-electing him. When it comes to scandals with politicians, the voters will have their say. Obviously the Mass. voters collectively like liberalism and the whole Kennedy mystique, and put that ahead of the obvious character flaws of the Kennedy clan.

many folks I have met from MA always say they have voted Dem all their lives and they will again.
I’m down south but I have had this conversation a few times.

“Why did you move?”
“It was too expensive, the high cost of living, the high taxes etc “some have even said they do not agree with the homosexual thing up there/
“Who did you vote for up there ?”
“Oh I am a Democrat, card carrying union too”

I have said for a very long time that the South needs to have a minuteman project to keep the commie libs (that have screwed up where they come from) out of normal areas lest they get screwed as well
So if he wasn't in the car, what might have happened? I don't think anyone else was in the car when it went off the bridge either. I think someone, maybe not even Kennedy, decided to kill her. Kennedy may have come forward for someone else because he was almost certainly the only one who could get the body off the island without an autopsy. No one knows if she was pregnant. No one knows if she was even conscious when she went into the water. (She obviously was conscious after hitting the water, given the report that she was found upside down in an air pocket; assuming the report is true.)

This is it in a nutshell. Kennedy didn't do time for killing Mary Jo because he is a Kennedy, NOT because he didn't murder her.
one guy down in port st Lucie told me that they should build a wall and if any of them want to move here they have to pay 10 grand and then be educated on why their old yankee state is messed up and how they should not make the south look like the hell hole they just left.
