A War Between Two World Views (The coming battle in the US)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 7/17/2009 | David Warren

Posted on 07/17/2009 2:45:34 PM PDT by mojito

[....]The outrage expressed, today, at the very existence of Sarah Palin, not only by progressive Democrats but by urbane "establishment" Republicans, is in many ways the product of this shift. Increasingly, I find, people on the left simply cannot accept any right-wing view as legitimate. The mere fact it can be so labelled puts it beyond the pale.

We often read that the old categories of "left" and "right" have become irrelevant. It is an argument almost invariably propounded by the left. They have been freed, for more than a generation, from anything resembling serious public debate, and have thus got in the habit of proceeding with an infinitely extendible agenda (through the courts if there are legislative delays). The right has meanwhile got in the habit of feeling disenfranchised.

The right is still there, however: mostly invisible to media editors, beyond their goldfish world. (The immense success of Fox News came from recognizing this "niche market," consisting of about half the population.)

[....]

We are going to have a war, next door in the U.S.A. -- a war between two world views that have become very nearly mutually incomprehensible. One might almost say that it was quietly declared on the op-ed of the Washington Post Tuesday.

There has been a cultural war going on for about 5 decades. There has been a political war going on since Reagan between right and left.

What kind of war is left?

You are right, but I would dare generalize further: It is the atheists/satanists v. those who believe in God.

Nothing else explains the peculiar ensemble of arguments whose opponents fall clearly on one side, or on the other.

“It’s not left vs. right, Democrat vs. Republican, or even liberal vs. conservative; it’s state vs. freedom.”

The right is for freedom. Republicans are for freedom (excluding RINOs). Conservatives are for freedom.

Insofar as anyone in those camps is not for freedom, he is not faithful to his own views, and should not be called a rightist, a Republican, or a conservative.

It is very much a matter of left vs. right. Which is to say, a matter of evil vs. good.

And yes, the left, demonrats, and libtards are capital “E” Evil.

An atheist is just a Satanist who doesn’t know who his boss is.

“Nothing else explains the peculiar ensemble of arguments whose opponents fall clearly on one side, or on the other.”

Very well put. Spare, yet clear.

Thanks to several of you for the link to Sarah’s article.
“Quietly declared” is right, with the operative word being ‘quietly’.
That was just way too subtle for me.
I have to be hit over the head a bit harder than most.
I come here and other news sites daily
watching for signs of things to come
and you can feel it coming in the air.
I do not know what happens next.
But if you ain’t ready, you better get ready.

I agree. It appears to be unavoidable at this point. Either join up Rs or get out of the way.

>>There has been a political war going on since Reagan between right and left.

More like, since McCarthy. Nixon was a target because of his alliance with McCarthy.

There will be a flash point. Police will come to someone’s home in the countryside to arrest the home owner for not obeying one of Obama’s fascist decrees. I feel certain that within the next two years Obama will issue an Executive Order to confiscate all privately owned firearms and another to confiscate all safe deposit box keys. There will be violence. This will be the start of whatever comes next.

“My 60’s plus poker playing club members have all said that there isn’t a peaceful way back from here.
Prepare now. “

Fully agree. It’s coming, and it’s not gonna be pretty. I don’t plan to play nice.

Not only is it coming, it is necessary. A cleansing, a reckoning, is what is needed. One side or the other must prevail. There is no room left for compromise. I can’t wait.

The Demonrats think they can pull these totalitarian policies over on the public which has remained ignorant, but it will start to be felt by the public and it will eventually turn on them. These people are the definition of tyrants mocking the United States of America. They have no respect for our Constitution and right now think they can get away with this with no consequences. And people need to rise up against this.

Oops. People over 60 years old...ahem, was that a senior moment?
(BTW, we're all heavily armed...in fact, we built our own firing range)

When I was a child in the late 40s and early 50s, there were of course many more newspapers than there are now. But it wasn't only a Conservative/Liberal split, there were many more permutations.

When I made it to NYC for college, there were the NYT, (Lefty Dem, Jewish,Protestant), The Herald Tribune,(Conservative Protestant and Upper Class Catholics) The Daily News (Blue Collar Conservative Catholic, Democrat, Patriotic, Union) and The NY Post (Blue Collar Lefty, Jewish, Democrat, formerly Socialist, not so patriotic, union), Then there was the Telegram (White Collar Catholic Middle of the Road) The Sun, The Brooklyn Eagle, and the Wall Street Journal, even papers for real Commies.

One look in someone's living room or kitchen, and you know who and what you were going to be dealing with! As an older kid, II delivered a local paper, which slowly evolved into a liberal rag when it was sold to a chain, and I was forbidden to deal with it!

So, let me get this straight. The anti-gun left is gonna take on the pro-gun right. Okay, sounds good to me. Let me know where and when!
