President Barack Obama on Wednesday added nurses to the list of lobby groups supporting a national health care overhaul.

The president made his remarks in the Rose Garden accompanied by nurses, as well as Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) and Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), on the day that a Senate committee released a companion bill to the House measure.

Yes, I know you think that. I've long since moved. Folks who are content to call their legislators will keep getting the same result.

As I've been saying since 11/4/08 - we aren't simply "in a cycle" - all things have changed...nothing is the same.

Either promised them, or threatened them.

My wife’s employer (I’ll call him Dr K) is a family practice doctor, my brother-in-law is a Radiologist, and my sister is an RN at Kaiser in California. Dr K and my brother-in-law have both said they will retire if Obamacare is enacted. My sister is in the union but opposes Obamacare. The nurses unions do not care what their constituents think or about patient care, all they care about is their power.

Please don’t think that ALL nurses suport obama’s plan to destroy health care in America.

My wife is very conservative as are many of her co workers, and many nurses do not support this horrible plan of obama’s.

If you look at various nursing forums on the internet, they are not quite sure how to take it. The plan of obama might actually end up screwing nurses when it comes to pay and working conditions.

I don’t think all nurses support him...they don’t have a voice. I think unions are in the Obama pocket - and he’s only listening to them. And, of course, the unions don’t really give a rip about their constituents - outside of collecting dues from them.

I’m a nurse and I know a lot of other nurses medics and a rather large population of medical professionals. I have yet to find any of my coworkers that find much to be enthused about. About the only thing they have given us is a mountain of increased regulation. Combined with the need to practice defensive medicine the cost have boomed. I’m not quite sure who the hacks are playing chorus with Barry O but they definitely don’t represent the majority of folks I know.

These unions are NOT serving the best interests of their members. Want proof? Compare how much doctors and nurses make in the UK and Canada to here.

The ANA and AMA have been co-opted by the left, as has practically every large professinal interest group since 1994. Where is AARP on this? Their members will suffer the most from ObamaCare.

The membership of these groups should be in open rebellion.

Same groups of “Professionals” lined up in support for Hillarycare in 1993-94 unitl they heard from the rank and file.

I can almost be certain the email boxes at the AMA are overflowing.

And any other group that claims to speak for other medical professionals will feel the same if they keep sticking their collective heads in the sand or their bodily orifices.

My company deals with with Seniors in the heathcare marketplace and my wife and I were talking just about AARP. We are betting AARP will come out FOR this travesty just like they’ve come out for every other attack on providers in the last two decades. It’s a good thing our lobbying arm in DC is against this thing.

Back in the late 70’s,I was young and uninformed in the ways of unions. I was a nurse at a local hospital and honestly didn’t even know I was a union member. A strike was called at the hospital and I showed up for my usual shift to be met by my co-workers standing with their signs and hollering for better wages etc.

I was stunned and asked them - but WHO will take care of our patients? They didn’t have an answer. I crossed the picket line- still not realizing the implications of my actions and went to my floor to start work. I’ve never forgotten the looks I received by various staff members as I went through the long halls to reach my station.

The docs looked at me with shock and smiles- the rest were disgusted and mad except for the patients- who were grateful.

I gave my two weeks notice before they could fire me.

It was the beginning of my education in the ways of unions and it left me disillusioned and confused. I decided I wouldn’t ever work for a union again.

Not this nurse. I've worked the NYC Health & Hospital Corporation system. It's very inefficient and often dangerous to patients' health.
