And, too be honest, some of the Palin haters on the Right, too. But, let's deal with the Left for the moment, shall we? Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight shows that the Palin hatred (this story isn't quite in the PDS region) will drive them to use any rational to demean Palin:
Sarah Palin's political action committee -- SarahPAC -- raised $733,000 in the first half of the year and is set to push past $1 million in the wake of the recent attention she's gotten herself. On the one hand, this isn't that impressive. Mitt Romney, for instance, has raised twice as much. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Palin's sometime rival who is now running for governor in Texas, raised nine times as much. For somebody with a political celebrity dwarfed only by Barack Obama's, that's just not all that much cashflow.
But, Palin isn't actually running for Federal office, hasn't announced she is running for Federal office, and obviously isn't running for Governor of Alaska. Furthermore, SarahPAC is not about raising cash for a federal run.
To give Nate his due, though
What is impressive about Palin's fundraising haul, however, is who it came from: the grassroots.(continued at link)

Well, my ex-girlfriend hated Palin but I think mostly she just hated her.
Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet is a recovering liberal, but she LOVES Sarah Palin and wore several Palin T-shirts last year. I think there are a lot of women out there that’ll vote for her at the top of the ticket, especially since Mr. Obama is f***ing up the country by the numbers and women hate to see anyone’s kids attacked.
Because she is a real person aka a mom and not some loser lawyer.
Most overlooked poll stat today:
Who would you vote for now?
Obama 42% (46)
someone else 39% (30)
Diageo/The Hotline poll
Hutchinson and Mitt have insider type connections for large fundraising efforts, I’d bet SarahPAC average donation is under 100 dollars.
And that is a part of Mitt’s problems, Sarah P has thousands of donors, Mitt only has a relative few, when the primaries come back around Mitt has no backing Sarah P has tens of thousands of people willing to volunteer.
If she loves Sarah, then she is OK by me.
Actually, that’s kind of interesting. Did your ex manage to explain just WHY she hated Sarah?
I had some great arguments with my Mom over Sarah. Mom’s an old “libbie” and Gloria Steinem fan, Her late mother, whom she took in and supported in her final years, was a proper depression-era FDR democrat who impressed upon her the William Jennings Bryan/Wizard of Oz zero-sum economic model that anyone who makes a lot of money in this life has to have taken it from the mouths of the proletariat, etc., etc., ad inf, ad naus.
I asked Mom how she could stand to see these blue-stocking, Park Avenue elitist types crudely smear a working-class, Midwestern (Slate Magazine did have great article about the lack of an official “Alaskan” accent) woman who was genuinely devoted to her children when she, herself proudly came from a similar background and never really bought into the culture of abortion.
Mom did not have a satisfactory answer, beyond furiously defending her own proletarian, Midwestern (Helena, Montana) origins.
The political/media/elite class that sets (or more accurately pollutes) the culture, dispenses propaganda as news, and run politics has got to go. This last election where a Harvard lawyer who lived in a multi-million dollar mansion claimed that he, as opposed to the other guy who lived in a million dollar mansion(s), was a man of the people, was ridiculous. Every president since 1988 either went to Harvard or Yale and they all want to be a man of the people, yeah right. This country would be better off if every single resident of Washington DC went on long snipe hunt and were replaced by the residents of Cody Wyoming, Billings Montana, Huntsville Alabama, Lubbock Texas, whatever.
Palin is not of the political/media/elite class and they hate her for it.
Everything scares the Left. They control the Federal government, yet they’re still paranoid.
At least she’s a recovering liberal. The first Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet’s friends are ALL social workers, so you can imagine where she is on the political spectrum.
BTW, have a riddle for you:
Q. How many social workers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.
Because she disagrees with Palin politically. Therefore, she didn't feel one ounce of empathy at the derision, ridicule, and harassment aimed at SP and her kids.
Hats off to you, for being a DO'ER, instead of a TALKER.
I am SOOOOOOOOOO HUNGRY for a President whose educational background someone with CORE like Reagan had or Palin has. I am SICK of the way the secular elitist metro-sexual freaks have taken over the Ivy League schools and robbed the students there of any balance whatsoever.
Ping.
Palin really scares the left? She really scares the Colin Powell wing of the Republican Party too.
In fact Palin is a threat to the left, because with some different views, she would be the perfect Dem candidate.
Inspiring, a woman, self made, and with huge grassroots appeal.
That is why they fear her. They have been searching for this type of candidate for some time, and hope some liberal hag will emerge in the next few years to at least take one title: a woman nominee for POTUS.
As the party of feminists (the closed shop ones), it galls them no end.
It is all very obvious.
I spent two years in grad school at Dartmouth, and it's obvious to me why these Ivy League "masters of the universe" have driven us into the ditch in which we find ourselves. The place was filled to the brim with extremely confident bulls**tters who have never really lived in the world you and I inhabit. They haven't met a payroll, worked with their hands, or even held a job in the private sector. They think dorm room bull sessions, feel-good legislation, and officious hyper-regulation are the answer to every one of life's disappointments. They are, in their own way, profoundly stupid and ignorant people. Many of them, I wouldn't even trust to walk my dog.
It is not Sarah they hate but what she represents. And what she represents is our country at its finest.
The next time they open their mouths or write in a blog about how horrible Sarah is just remember that that is what they really think of all of us.
May they all rot where the sun never shines.
