Michigan's unemployment rate for June of 2009 jumped to 15.2%. That's a 1.1% increase over the prior month.
Rates usually climb or fall by a few tenths of a percent. It's rare to see such a substantial increase or decrease.
But experts say the struggling economy combined with the ailing auto market means Michigan has been hit harder than other states.
We'll have much more on the numbers and what it means for Michigan tonight on 6 News at 5 and 6.
Detroit, Flint and Ann Arbor throw the balance out of whack in Eastern MI. ACORN is very active in Detroit and wouldn’t be surprised that’s how Granholm got reelected.
60% with or without the black folks counted? MI has about 1 million blacks. I’d be interested to see how that breaks down demographically.
Wasn’t it 82 where Blanchard was elected and jacked taxes through the roof and almost got recalled? I remember my dad cussing out the boy governor whenever he would appear on screen because of this.
Too bad they can’t elect a compassionate Governor or President to help them out.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
The Michigan scenario should scare the pants off Conservatives.
+++++++++++++
It’s not like I totally disagree, but the center has voted for appealing conservatives before - and they will again. Furthermore, people are moving to the right currently - all polling shows that.
Of the things you mention, the ACORN/fraud scares possibly the most...things were quite fradulent on the money and vote side last election and guess what - the press did NADA. Sooo, we’ve got to be totally proactive, raise a little Cain and make sure the Ds can’t steal the coming elections with fake, illegal and dead voters...
Want a cheeseburger friend - just vote Ds down the line here and we’ll get you a nice hot one..., here let me just accompany you into the booth, so I can show you (OK, that last part is a little over the top - but is anything over the top these days?)
Pathetic..
Wow...that is obnoxious, as you suggested!
You are quite correct. The economic pain from his actions has not even begun to be felt.
Finally I’m part of something big around here.
Hate to say it but it looks like I’ll be chacking out of Michigan soon. Got an interview out east soon.
I was at Michigan Works! today. The guy working there even agreed that virtually no one was getting hired here.
Let's step back a second and analyze the looney left’s favorite excuse. The inherited business. First of all, we all know that DemonRATS controlled all of Congress for Bush's last two years...whatever timidity Bush had 2000 - 2006, he had greater timidity during those 2 years...those leftists kind of took back over (and look at ‘em now.) As someone pointed out in a thread today, timid Republicans gave into the DemonRATS demands to have equal representation on the Congressional committees in 2000 to 2006 (is that happening now - OF COURSE NOT - now we're back to the ratio of the controlling party). So the RATS have been in full blown control mode at least since Jan. ‘07, and basically leading around a timid Bush and timid Republican party by the nose, with the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, lending rules and algorithms be damned. And now the RATS are in complete and utter control.
Let’ just posit the slow down started in perhaps Q4 2007 - and up until then millions of jobs, low unemployment, low interest rates and general economic growth prevailed...after the 9/11 recovery.
Did the RATS inherit that also? Sure, but they don't mention that ever, ever, never...that is not part of the Bush inheritance...
These people are patently absurd and illogical.
“These job losses are not necessarily 0bamas fault.”
“0bamas fault. Bad corporate management, corrupt parasitical unions, poor labor work ethic, government regulation, all had a hand over the decades in destroying Michigans economic base.”
++++++++++++++
Hmmm...they all have Ds by their names...that slimy party is certainly to blame...
But then, Americans voted for change 2006 and 2008, and we can see how that's turning out.
Speaking of inheritance, here is what Bush needlessly inherited from his predecessor. 911 and the WOT have had an undeniable impact on our deficit and economy. Yet in spite of this, unemployment had dropped to 4.5% by Nov. 2006 (and maintained that level for about 9 more months), and the deficit was being steadily reduced.
But then, Americans voted for change 2006 and 2008, and we can see how that’s turning out.

Great point. And still the idiot libs are blinded by facts staring them straight in the face.
Thanks for the ping; post. I guess our governor, Jenny Grantheft, was right after all...it’s been about 5 years and we’re blown away...(by these scum-sucking socialist)...

(one of the best and most correct political ads of alltime BUMP!)
The incompetent, (Wayne County tainted) governor Grantheft is OBLIVIOUS to the misery SHE has HELPED to create in this great state.
She sucked as Attorney General...she sucks as governor...IMHO the worst we’ve ever had in both departments...(and I used to think Jim Blanchard-D was bad...sheesh...I would be happy to see him back in office!)
I heard a story on Glenn Beck at the gaul and outright arrgoance of these ACORN types. In Minnestoa there was a district in suburban Minneapolis where by the latest census a full .5% of the total populace, which was was about 40 people, was Black, yet at one polling place there was dozens if not a hundred of the ACORN types in line. They showed up with no id and dared the 80 year old white women to question them. They had college students and other Marxist types there to "Make sure" these people got to vote. If we don't get a handle on this our system is lost. Urban minorities are sticking it in your face and daring you to stop them. I mean they make Volvos in Sweden also, did'nt you know that...Huh you say, watch the TV commerical.
