Democrats to investigate “secret” program reported by NYT in 2002 ...Panetta steps in it!
ABC news goes at great length to describe how Cheney hid it from everyone ... and then sneaks in the information that “the program never materialized”.
I take that to mean that it never existed.
So Cheney is to be harrassed for something that never happned? Or am I missing something here?
Further shame on the lame MSM and Leon Panetta, who claims he didn’t know about the program till June 23rd, 6 months after being on the job! Incompetent fool.
Well,...I would bet that some in the CIA knew about the Times and Post articles....but thought Panetta and Pelosi also knew....ROFL!
It's Pelosi Vs. Panetta now unless Panetta want to really trash the Agency. Panetta is between a rock and a hard place now and will probably be forced to be a liberal/progressive and trash the security of our nation.

The news today on that increasingly weird CIA scandal is that the agency withheld information about a secret program from Congress for years on direct orders from Dick Cheney.
The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.
The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush administration had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.
Mr. Panetta, who ended the program when he first learned of its existence from subordinates on June 23, briefed the two intelligence committees about it in separate closed sessions the next day.
Efforts to reach Mr. Cheney through relatives and associates were unsuccessful.
My take on this kerfuffle: it’s about saving face for Nancy Pelosi. I’d be willing to bet that a lot of the Democrats yelling about this “secret” program (which, by the way, was never actually implemented) have known about it for years. They’re pulling it out now because they need to back up Pelosi’s claims that the CIA lied to her about waterboarding.

In light of recent reports that Vice President Cheney had ordered the CIA to withhold information about a counterrorism program that was being planned during the Bush administration, on Sunday ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on both Good Morning America and on This Week suggested that the revelations may be "vindication" for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, or that they at least "bolster" her claims about the CIA lying to her. Stephanopoulos even seemed to be pushing Pelosi to claim "vindication" even while the Speaker’s office was reluctant to do so. Stephanopoulos, from Good Morning America: "I spoke with Speaker Pelosi's office about that, and they don't want to use the word "vindication," but, clearly, it does bolster their case that on several occasions, they were either misled or not given relevant information that the Congress was supposed to have."
This is a tacit admission from the Democrats that they can’t fix the economy. This recession will will end when the market corrects itself, and the Democrats hoped they could time the natural correction with the so-called stimulus bill. They need to be doing something when the numbers start to turn around so they can take the credit, although the MSM will give them the credit, no matter what. The bottom line is they, and probably everyone else, are clueless.
They are already into it too deep. The only outcome is for them to prove how big a fools they are. Then they have to spin and mask the whole affair. Its gonna be big!
