WASHINGTON -- CIA Director Leon Panetta told Congress last month that senior CIA officials have concealed significant actions and misled lawmakers repeatedly since 2001, the chairman and other members of the House Intelligence Committee said in letters revealed Wednesday.
Seven Democratic members of the Intelligence Committee wrote to Panetta in late June and asked him to "publicly correct" his May 15 statement that it is not the "policy or practice of the agency to mislead Congress," a copy of the letter obtained by FOX News shows.
FOX News has confirmed that the letter stems from testimony Panetta gave behind closed doors to the Intelligence Committee on June 24. The letter says Panetta told the committee that "top CIA officials have concealed significant actions from all Members of Congress, and misled Members for a number of years from 2001 to this week."
The lawmakers did not write the letter on official Congressional letterhead. A House source says this was not an official communication from the House Intelligence Committee and that there was concern from others on the panel that the co-signers were trying to force Panetta to apologize for alleged problems created by the Bush Administration's CIA.
Exactly what actions Panetta disclosed to the House Intelligence Committee on June 24 is unclear, but committee chairman Silvestre Reyes said that the CIA outright lied in one case.
"They wanted (Panetta) to throw (the Bush CIA) under the bus," said a House close source who monitors intelligence matters.

Most folks don’t know how infested the CIA has become, with liberal, academic types, who actually work at odds with American interests.
That woman has way too much power. She’s peppered the Intelligence committee with sychophants. Panetta is weak. If the CIA is divided up this way, we are in bigger trouble than imagined. Imagine an an agency dominated by Plame types. My sympathy and support to those in the rank and file doing their utmost to protect us. I can’t wait to hear Hoekstra’s side, a good man. This is getting just nuts.

Sounds to me like Panetta just sold out the entire CIA.

Now we have a man leading the major intelligence of the United States who hasnt the courage to stand up for his agency.

I never used to believe in term limits.

Once a political hack, always a political hack. Panetta was probably told they would decrease funding and shut up. These later statements were to ensure they get funding at the CIA.

Yup, but wait till the CIA guys throw Panetta under the bus. This must REALLY pi$$ them off, but they are a bunch of pros. They might just come up with something REALLY good on him (or even Pelosi).
Democrats lost badly the last time they brought this up. Why do it again? I’m thinking deflect attention from some other bad news.
The CIA HATED Bush for making them do their job.....they probably just LIED to REPUBLICAN members of Congress!
I couldn’t download the .pdf referenced in the Fox story, assume the server is getting hammered. At this point is sounds like an expected outcome was acheived - 7 Dems request Dem CIA leader to cover the backside of a Dem House Leader. If this is to be credible there needs to be a minority report.
Shame on Obama and Pelosi for how this item is being investigated and treated publicly. The damage this administration does adds up each day...

You will perhaps notice that whichever party doesn't control the House suddenly wants fiscal responsibility.
Whichever party controls the House..... well getting to decide where all that money goes is just too much fun!
