Congressman Walden and Congressman Pence Introduce "Broadcaster Freedom Amendment"
Congressman Mike Pence [press release] ^

Congressman Greg Walden and Congressman Mike Pence filed the Broadcaster Freedom Amendment last night to the Financial Services Appropriations Bill that would kill any funding for the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" as well as stealth Fairness Doctrine in the form of proposed broadcast localism regulations.
Democrats from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Senators Dick Durbin, and John Kerry have called for the return of this kind of regulation to the airwaves of America, but thanks to the support of millions of freedom-loving Americans, we were able to mostly close the front door to this government censorship.
So now they are trying to sneak through the back door with regulations known as broadcast localism.' These regulations are just a Trojan Horse for unelected bureaucrats in Washington to determine what you can or cannot listen to.
In a time when we are witnessing an unprecedented intrusion of the federal government into various sectors, the last thing we need is a government takeover of America's airwaves. It's not what the American People want, and it's not something this Congress should allow.
Let your Member of Congress and demand an up-or-down vote on the Walden-Pence Broadcaster Freedom Amendment. Call TODAY, Tuesday, July 14 because the Rules Committee is scheduled to meet at 3:00pm to decide which amendments to allow. If our amendment is made in order, it can be offered on the House floor when the Financial Services Appropriations bill is considered later this week. The Capitol Switchboard is (202) 224-3121

This is being voted on in a few hours.
I called David Drier's office this morning (ranking Republican on the Rules Committee) to ask what we can do to support this. They said to call our own congressmen and ask them to a) support it and b) ask their colleagues on the Rules Committee to do so as well.

It would be great, but I give it a snowball’s chance in hell of passing.

Where are the locally owned and authored newspapers?
Where are the locally owned and programmed tv channels (outside of what they purport to be news programming)?
Screw the Left. They want to get their dirty mitts on the only media they don’t dominate.

I am proud to have Walden represent me in congress. He is a down to earth common sense conservative, who represents the largest district in Oregon (most of which is very rural). He is the only one I am proud to send to DC from our state at this point in time. He used to own a radio station in Hood River, Oregon. He also spends allot of time visiting communities all across his district when he is back from the the viper den in DC.

I just called and gave my Representative’s office an earful. In typical fashion his office refused to give his position over the phone. His policy is to give his position on an issue in writing only. I told the aide such obfuscation couldn’t be more disingenuous. I demanded he vote for the Amendment but I’m no holding my breath.

His eastern district is larger than all of the other districts combined in the state. It is probably bigger than a lot of east coast states. Too bad the other Oregon districts are all represented by socialists - Wu (mine), Blumenauer, DeFazio and Schrader.

If it were not for Greg Walden, Oregon would be watering its crops with BRAWNDO.

Reps and Senators are on total disconnect from We the People. It is asking for insult to phone them, so..... I am more than ready to apply TAR and FEATHERS.

I didn’t see this in time. Did they vote on it, or still pending?
Mike Pence is my leading choice for next U.S. President.
