Al-Qaeda vows to hit China over Uighur unrest

by Polly Hui 1 hr 48 mins ago

HONG KONG (AFP) – Al-Qaeda is threatening for the first time to attack Chinese interests overseas in retaliation for the deaths of Muslims in the restive region of Xinjiang, according to a risk analysis group.

The call for reprisals against China comes from the Algerian-based offshoot Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), according to a summary of its report sent to AFP by the international consultancy Stirling Assynt.

"Although AQIM appear to be the first arm of Al-Qaeda to officially state they will target Chinese interests, others are likely to follow," said the report, which was first divulged by the South China Morning Post Tuesday.

Osama bin Laden's network has not previously threatened China, but the Stirling report said a thirst for vengeance over Beijing's clampdown in Xinjiang was spreading over the global jihadist community.

Hundreds of thousands of Chinese work in the Middle East and North Africa, including 50,000 in Algeria, estimated the group, which has offices in London and Hong Kong providing risk advice to corporate and official clients.

"This threat should be taken seriously," Stirling said, basing its information on people who it said had seen the AQIM instruction.

I think the Chinese are just begging for a fight. I know they don’t want their people harmed, but the politboro strikes me as like a bunch of kids who have built this neat new set of toys and are just dying to try them out.

Kind of like male FReepers who get a new gun for Christmas and are waiting impatiently for Christmas dinner to be over and the guests go home so they can try out their new rifle.

The guests get thrown out of it’s an assault weapon. :)

Which will make me wonder how long it will be before the Africans start begging the Europeans and us Yanks to free them.

Hehe, chances are China will simply laugh in their faces if the UN gets belligerant over that. I am sure the Chinese can come up with worse.

The Democrats, Daily Loss and Du aren’t going to like this.

They will pressure Panetta into helping Al Qeda.

I wouldn’t fall for this.

If I wanted to gas my own ethnic regions, I’d link them to Al Qaeda too.

The Russians are at this same tactic with Georgia too.

At this point, the rest of the world is looking at the US and saying, “If they were dumb enough to buy Obama as an head of state, they’ll buy anything.”

Why would you have to wait?
Not enough ammo so everyone can shoot?

Personally, I think this is just a ChiCom plant story, to allow the ChiComs to paint a legit freedom movement as being ‘terrorist’.

Im all for the Uyghurs, the Tibetans, the Mongols in inner Mongolia, etc breaking away, and “The People’s Republic of China”, collapsing.

This is just a preemptive move by the Chicoms, heading off any international support that freedom movements in thier country might receive.

So using that way of thinking, you'd certainly support giving California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Texas back to the Mexicans,or at least have a UN plebiscite on the issue right?

I mean we did gain the territory by conquest.

Uighurs are only 7% of the total populations of Xinjian. I bet Mexicans are more than 7% of the population in the West.

Mexicans have alot more claim on the West than Uighurs have on Xinjiang.

While we're at it maybe we should give the western parts of North Carolina and Georgia back to the Cherokee. It is their's by treaty.

Why Al-Qaeda wants to take revenge against China? then how about 911 case, how about bali bomb and many incidents that happened, must individual country vow or swear to take revenge too??? “They” are always the one who start first.why act so childish and ignorant, why must kill the innocent? why everyone cannot live peacefully? I think their mind is just kill ,bomb, hostage etc etc. There are so many things that one can do instead “they” are stressing themselves, planning which place to bomb next, who to kill, What xxxx mind they have??
I believe China will try their best and act fast.

Ho ho, I dont think youre going to get too far comparing the USA to a communist dictatorship. POint is, noone in CA or TX wants to secede (yet). But plenty of people want to leave communist china. I dont know where you got your 7% figures from, but I know this: If the Uyghurs want China out of their country, Im for them. And so are plenty of other here. They never asked Al-Q for any help. Hell, Chinese intel probably floated that story to make the killings theyre carrying out there look legit.

Listen sir, as far as Im concerned, a good communist country, is a post communist country. China has been training al qaeda, has been a signal contributor to the Islamic Bomb, and is a major ally of almost every rogue state extant today. North korea, Libya, Pakistan... all are up to their necks in chopsuey.

What makes you so keen to see a people who have had nothing to do with Al-Q, and want freedom from a communist empire, done in?
