There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented.
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Who gives a flying F what the libs think. It is already posted on her facebook page, she wrote this and it is BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. She is taking her opinion directly to the people. I am still stunned the Washington Post, who are beyond in the tank for Obama, would post this

Even solid freeper Washi (checked “in forum” posting history) in comment #26 questioned this despite the clear byline. You’ve properly identified the line of attack. Fortunately, Gov. Palin has a couple years to establish that she speaks he own mind, as opposed to zero speaking TOTUS’s.
It doesn’t work politically. It has been proven politically across the world. Opposition parties let scientists argue the climate change evidence, politicians should argue economic impacts. As more scientific evidence emerges, the political game plan can change, and has somewhat. Its no use taking a stand against climate change if you never get elected. She is a politician not a scientist.
I agree but with the proviso that one day Sarah devotes an entire op-ed to the concept of global warming and cites her own contrary scientists that make the concept at least dubious or at least up for discussion among rational human beings.
Hah—she said “clobber”—that so sounds like something she’d say! Picture an Ivy snob saying “clobber.”
You’re right. She’s going to change it just like Ronaldus Magnus did. And that’s even if she doesn’t run in 2012.

Who cares. What politician doesn’t have advisors. IMO she has less then most, so more of her comments are actually her own, written by herself.
But it is hypocritical. Remember the reaction to her resignation speech - many on both sides of the fence said she should have political consultants look through it to make it, ahh, “snappier”.

I am not being hyper critical, very few doctors, attorneys or successful business people can write worth a darn.
Her audience is not the Far Left or radical feminists. It is the independent and moderates that Sarah over time hopes to convince that she is REASONABLE and grounded in reality and not antediluvian and narrow-minded.
I think it’s a metaphor. I know, I know....it’s a big word for some.
Yeah, LOVED that. Sarah speaks for REAL Americans, the Elitists have their noses too far up in the air to notice us
True, my choice is for conservatives to take over the Republican party. Sarah Palin may be the perfect vehicle/leader to do just that.
Given the GOP’s collective actions (or lack thereof) of the last decade, I’d say were past criminally stupid and moving right on to clinically insane.

A metaphor for what?
Anybody who has heard Sarah talk about the local issues that faced her as governor knows she was a hard working policy wonk on those issues.
Does anybody doubt that if Sarah puts her mind to it, she might do the same with national issues over the next few years?
This is a start. There are a few things to criticize about the article. But with her work ethic and intelligence, imagine how sharp she will become on national issues over the next 3 1/2 years. Add to that her charisma, her name recognition her common sense conservative point of view and her large base of support and I can easily see why the left is concerned.
True, a goof in grammar there. What I like is how my eye flowed over the whole essay—what I call “coherence”—with nary a bump or confusion. Thought moving easily to the next thought. That made me not copy-edit. But, that is an error.
