I'm scheduled to be on MSNBC this afternoon to talk about the controversy over the pulled Free Republic thread about Malia Obama.
The segment should air live around 3:30 p.m. EDT barring any breaking news, etc.
David Shuster and Tamran Hall will be co-hosting the segment.
I'm heading out the door in a few minutes.

If you've ever had an 11-YO daughter, you know that they don't take kindly to parental censorship of their ideals, and they are almost universally thinking "save the planet" and "end all wars" and "I love everyone", etc. They believe in unicorns. They have no concept of evil.
Thank God for little girls. However, it is also likely that the Presidential Machine approved this T-shirt for the inevitable world papparazzi. It was a cheap shot, fired by a child for all the world to see.
But regardless, even if it was a staged statement by Axelrod and Emmanuel for the fawning world press, it is still inexcusable to post trash about little girls.
Even if the left swears a blue streak about Sarah Palin's children, we must not sink to their vile level. As Kristinn said, at least we have standards.
“If people like the Obama’s use their kids to make political statements with their clothes, it will be reported here.”
++++++++++++
Reporting on that, is not saying the kid looks like a ‘street whore’ and such. At least one person still posting here admitted doing that to me today. IMHO, not classy and we should not accept that here. We can easily find another way to cogently make that point.
Well, that’s a little bit what I’ve been thinking. Maybe she wore the shirt not really knowing the political symbolism that it holds to many.
So let’s take it a little farther. Suppose she shows up next time in a “No Nukes” shirt. Once she starts publicly expressing a political opinion, at what point does she stop being off limits? Or does she get to say whatever she wants with no rebuttal.
Don’t forget. Barak declared Michelle “off limits”.

Which apparently meant that she should be able to shoot her mouth off and never be criticized.
Regardless, it’s a rookie mistake (being charitable) by the parents to let her go out at a high-profile event with a shirt on that smacks in any way of politics. When Obama goes to Japan, will she be wearing a “Save the Whales” Tshirt? (Japan continues to whale for “research purposes” and it’s a sore subject in the lefty world.)
You did great!
So was I. The poll is now
MSNBC 21%
FR 33%
Freedom of Speech 4%
hollywoodOz 4%
it was just fun to watch 7%
I don’t care 31%
Thanks very much.
POSTERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY POST.
THINK BEFORE YOU POST.
IF YOU POST, YOUR WORDS STAND!
The only thing I wish you would have said was when stating that the media & Democratic Party had no standards, you should have also said “when the left goes on television and says things like “But doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?” and there’s no consequence, what can one say about the internet when television sets the standards?”
Wow, I waited till after work to listen so I could devote an unbiased ear.
I was surprised how well it went considering the topic.
I must say, I did try to hear as someone who does not frequent FR. After listening to that, I would definitely take a peek at FR. You “owned” as I’ve seen lately that it wasn’t our finest hour and Jim did not apologize (good on you Jim, no need to apologize for something that was not of your doing).
I came back with the feeling that we were responsible, adult and rational. We’re not perfect and I think maybe you said that, humans make mistakes but got in a plug or two about KOS as well.
Had I critiqued it and tried to give advice about what could be better. I honestly can’t think of anything but I don’t work in media so that’s not saying much.
Oh hey, what happened to Parry who created all this fuss? Did he ever get a chance at his 15 minutes of fame? Hope he’s proud that he got in some extra hits to FR. Expect FR’s following to only increase.
We want to thank Chris Parry for his increase in readership! Good job Chris!
Any way the mods can post a count total of new members in the next week or so vs the average?
FR has a vendetta against Chris. He's like the bully on the playground and everyone got tired of that crap, the geeks are ganging up and fighting back.
Good job. I loved the way you didn’t the detestable Shuster talk over you. Thanks for bringing how the leftists have unleashed the most vicious attacks on Sarah Palin and her family.
I am as positive that they can as sure as I am positive that they will.
I cannot understand people who go through life making it as difficult for others if they can. Is life not rough enough? I'm sure Jim had many sleepless hours on this one. I think Chris got his just deserts. I suspect Letterman had a few sleepless hours as well after his attack on Sarah Palin.
I've had enough and it's time we fight back. with honor of course.
I’m a little late, but go get em, kristinn!!!
Kristinn, you rock.
Well done! Outstanding job, Kristinn!
Well, you know why he could not be his normal self here, don’t you? (I know you do, I am just being rhetorical...:)
It is because he would get banned. We all know this. When was the last time you saw ANYONE use the unadulterated “F” word or the “C” word on this site?
We don’t do it, because as Kristinn said, we have standards. We ARE the ideology of ideas, and can communicate without resorting to profanity.
It is one of the reasons I post on FR and nowhere else. I feel like most people here are mature and adult. It gives me the creeps to go to a site like The Boston Globe or YouTube and read comments posted there.
It makes me feel like I am on another planet.
