Hurricane Sarah

In early July, while most Americans were preparing for a long weekend of celebratory parades, charred meats, and noisy fireworks, Sarah Palin made some plans of her own. The Alaska governor had been the object of endless media attention and assorted calumnies since she became John McCain's vice presidential nominee last August. Now she wanted to try something new. So, on July 3, in a speech delivered from her home on Lake Lucille in Wasilla, Palin told her constituents that not only would she not seek a second term, but she would also be transferring authority to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell on July 26, abdicating her office with about 18 months left to go. The announcement, as one might expect, received global press coverage, dominated the weekend headlines, and gave stories about the late Michael Jackson a run for their money. Meantime, the political world went into sustained convulsions.
The fierce reaction surprised Palin. She is acutely aware of what the media and her opponents say about her. She heard some people say that the timing of her speech was odd. Not so. "Independence Day is so significant to me--it's sort of a way for me to illustrate that I want freedom for Alaskans to progress, and for me personally," she told me during a telephone interview on July 9. Others said the motivation for her resignation was not clear. "I'm like, 'Holy Jeez, I spoke for 20 minutes' " giving reasons, she said. Bloggers conjectured that a horrible scandal was looming over her. Nope. Palin says she even heard a rumor that she resigned because pornographic pictures of her were about to hit the Internet. This left her bemused. "Between which pregnancies did I get to pose for those?" she said sarcastically.

LOL. I won't respond to the obvious - that you either want to get flamed or you forgot the sarc tag. I will say that Sarah's voice is very endearing to me (as a Midwesterner) because it has an upper Midwest sort of pitch to it. I'm glad she 'aint from Joisey.

LOL! Imagine: The zero will be apologizing for the U.S. at some international summit, while Sarah will give a speech to a crowd of 50,000 all chanting “Sarah, Sarah, Sarah” and “USA! USA! USA!” Lamestream media will go berserk.

Funny. I’ve lived through five wars, police actions and assorted altercations plus the barely recognizable periods of “peace” in between and I’ve never seen anybody who has done a better job of pissin’ off the liberals than Sarah. That single attribute is enough to make me vote for her. I don’t know if she’ll even be on the 2012 ballot but unless the person who is on it is a better conservative than she is he/she won’t get my vote. In all the years I’ve been voting I’ve never had the opportunity to vote FOR a candidate. I’ve always had to vote AGAINST the other one. This may be my last election and I’ll either vote for a true American or I won’t bother to vote at all. I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.
Sometimes a general has to pull out one one fight and regroup to fight another. Sarah knows that she is going to have a helluva fight coming up and wants to clear the decks to prepare.
Sarah, if you are reading this, all we ask is that you dont fail us. Lead us and we will follow you to the ends of the earth to save this country. We are ready for a real leader, not another rehash-retread RINO.

I have no idea why she resigned really. Nobody does.
If she is going to run in 2012, my purely constructive criticism would be that she should brush up on geopolitical national defense and libertarian economic and personal freedom issues.
