July 11 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said his $787 billion stimulus bill “has worked as intended” as he pushed back against Republican criticism that his recovery program has failed to rescue the economy.
“It has already extended unemployment insurance and health insurance to those who have lost their jobs in this recession,” Obama, who is traveling today in Ghana, said in his weekly Saturday radio and Web address. “It has delivered $43 billion in tax relief to American working families and business.”
Were it not for the stimulus program, the president said, “state deficits would be nearly twice as large as they are now, resulting in tens of thousands of additional layoffs -- layoffs that would affect police officers, teachers, and firefighters.”

Sure the simulus plan is working. Why. it has already paid big bucks for road signs touting the stimulus!
Why not just say Union Workers with BIG FAT governement benefits and pensions.
That "stimulus" did nothing but feed the fire!!!
Ask the bondholders who lost everything in the Chrysler theft.

Stop lying and making excuses. You OWN the economy now...pull your panties up and take the criticism like a man and stop placing the blame on others for your and your Dem controlled House and Senate failures.
He didn’t say it was “working”. He said it was “working as intended”. It would have been clearer to say “functioning as intended”.
It was probably designed with the full intent to NOT fix the economy, but to pay off Democratic voters and supporters. I think they were really expecting the recession to start mending on its own, so they opted for “stimulus” consisting of voter/support group payoffs instead.
People aren’t spending and businesses aren’t investing because they are afraid of what the tax and spend policies of Obama and the band of thieves and robbers we call Congress is going to take away from us.
0 is a liar. The 0 solution is killing America. Look at unemployment, and know that it is going to get a lot worse, before it doesn’t get better.
The Baraqqi coalition (minorities, illegals, etc) won’t turn out as big when the Messiah is not on the ballot in the next mid-term elections.
We need to work hard to flush Dems in 2010.

Obama said if the stimulus bill was passed there was shovel ready jobs, I have not seen any around here
If you live in a red county that went to McCain, you won't see any. Those 'shovel-ready' jobs are destined for blue counties only.
