Obama Responds to Growing Criticism of Recovery Act

President Obama, still traveling abroad, responded to increasing criticism that the Economic Recovery Act that he pushed through Congress is not working to prevent job losses in a still-struggling economy.

"As I made clear at the time it was passed, the Recovery Act was not designed to work in four months -- it was designed to work over two years," Obama said, adding later that: "This is a plan that will also accelerate greatly throughout the summer and the fall. We must let it work the way it's supposed to, with the understanding that in any recession, unemployment tends to recover more slowly than other measures of economic activity."

"One hundred days ago, in the midst of the worst economic crisis in half a century, we passed the most sweeping economic recovery act in history – a plan designed to save jobs, create new ones, and put money in people’s pockets," President Obama said. "Now, one hundred days later, we are meeting our economic challenges head-on and beginning to see early signs of progress across the country."

Not working? It was deliberately designed to make things WORSE.

As a Freeper mentioned here a couple of months ago, I’m afraid I forget who, from his first-hand experience, a lot of construction contracts actually had to be cancelled, because new environmental rules required urban builders to do full environmental studies—i.e., go through all the months-long delays of paperwork—before going ahead.

So a lot of work was cancelled. And a lot more has been lost because of the anticipation of huge taxes and currency depreciation resulting from this feckless printing and spending of money by the trillions.

As for the Porkulus package itself, it was pure pork, most of it going into the pockets of bureaucrats, politicians, and their friends, and most of it not taking effect for at least a year.

And when it does take effect, it will only be temporary jobs, of a kind destructive of normal jobs. I would hazard a guess that each union member paid off and each government contract worked will result in maybe three people being laid off in the private sector.

It's noting more than the Democrats pay back package at the expense of everyone. It's obvious that our democratic controlled government will release those monies at the times that will have the most affect in the next election(s). It's history repeating, control the money = control the people. Even Al Gore has finally admitted that the purpose of the Cap and Trade bill is to help bring about ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT. In the latter days the world will be ruled through deception. I think it's here!
