Health reform in jeopardy as House delays action (Socialized health care in trouble)

House Democrats will not unveil their full healthcare reform package on Friday nor begin committee work on the bill next week as planned, the latest sign that President Obama’s signature domestic initiative is in trouble.

The delay caps off a rocky week for Democrats and puts Obama’s goal of having both chambers pass a bill by the August recess increasingly at risk.

In spite of the disorder among congressional Democrats, Obama said his goals and timeline remain doable.

“There are going to be some tough negotiations in the days and weeks to come, but I'm confident that we're going to get it done,” Obama said during a news conference in Italy Friday.

Nevertheless, Obama acknowledged his August deadline could slip. “I never believe anything is do-or-die but I really want to get it done by the August recess,” he said.

Would those same Congress critters like to go home to their districts and say:
1.) I am taxing your health benefits, even though Obama promised we would not do that?

2.) I am destroying Medicare, as it is currently understood, so that we can let old people die, since killing off expensive elderly people is the only way we can afford to insure illegal aliens and drug addicts?

3.) I am creating a “public option” which will, eventually, put your private insurance company out of business, so you will NOT be able to keep the coverage you have now?

4.) I am forcing those who do not want to buy health insurance, on their own, to buy it, with a “mandate” much like you are forced to buy auto insurance.

I think it would be easier to vote NO, for any member of Congress, than it would be to explain this stuff in the bill, if it passes!

as Obama’s poll numbers sink slowly into the 40’s, his agenda is no longer worth them sticking their necks out for him

Waxman is on Obama’s side , if that tells you anything.

It tells me the mentally ill vote is behind Obama.

This also shows that there are probably 25-30 blue-dog Democrats who know what a fraud their majority in the House is, and realize that they could be shown the door in about 15 months...

Government health care in some form or another, will be found to be the super cat, with 9,000 lives.

These reports of it's demise, or even setbacks, are way premature.

The following is directed to Freepers who haven't donated or signed up for monthlies yet...

16% is good.  100% is better.  You know you're going to do it.  Pull the trigger!  You don't have to pay it all now.  $5 now, $25 next week, $10 later... keep the ball rolling.

Monthly donorship is a good way for us to avoid having to do the Freepathons.  Besides, it's a great way to pony up in style.
If you're on the verge of becoming a monthly donor or you think you would like to up your monthly donation a bit, has Jim got a deal for you.
Check this out.  There's an added incentive for a limited time only.  (Always wanted to type that...)

Thanks to Freepers who have been frequenting the Freepathon thread to ham it up with folks over there.  It helps to raise the visibility of the Freepathon.

Jump into the Monthly Donorship special thread too.

Meanwhile, the Senate Finance Committee has held countless meetings throughout the year aimed at forging a bipartisan consensus for healthcare reform but has not found agreement in any of the controversial areas, such as the so-called public option, requirements that employers provide health benefits and a slate of tax increases.

You'd think that since they've been working on it for A YEAR and can't get any agreement on anything, they'd realize it's a bad idea.
