WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Friday, 47 percent of people questioned would like to see the Senate vote in favor of Sotomayor's confirmation, with 40 percent opposed and 13 percent unsure.
The poll suggests a partisan divide, with nearly seven in 10 Democrats supporting Sotomayor's confirmation, Independents split, and nearly two out of three Republicans opposing Senate confirmation.
The percentage of those who would like to see Sotomayor confirmed in the CNN poll is lower than in other national surveys released in the past few weeks.
"One possible reason why the CNN poll shows less support for Sotomayor than other recent polls is a difference in the question wording," Holland said. "Polls by other organizations have described Sotomayor as Barack Obama's choice for the Supreme Court. But in order to make historical comparisons, the CNN poll used a question dating back to 1987 that does not mention the president's name."

That may be true but Judge Napalitano says that O has the votes and that she’s in, by end of August he thinks.
The GOP needs to stand up against racism.
::::::
The GOP needs to grow a pair, and stand up and fight against everything the radical left is doing to empower itself. I know...I expect way too much.
Well of course they support her...
They support her because they oppose our opposition to her...
Its that simple, and they do not think past that narrow scope...Because they cannot think...
Thats what liberals do...They are intellectually lazy...And I can say that about some people who hang an “R” beside their name as well...
There was no way we were going to keep her from sitting on that court...
We just better hope our 4 guys eat their Wheaties for the next 8 years...
Obama is going to get two more to replace Ginsberg and Stevens...They are walking proof of death warmed over...
NEARLY half support which means more then half do not support. Which means they should vote NO on confirming her!!! DUH
Anything over 50 percent is the majority...............
50.1
This is a CNN poll. I never trust a poll that is conducted by a network that gets a dismal piece of the ratings pie. Like them or not, FOX has more viewers and seems more likely to better represent opinion,IMO
The headline could also have been “Fewer than half support Sotomayor’s confirmation.”
The headline could also have been “Fewer than half support Sotomayor’s confirmation.”
“The headline could also have been Fewer than half support Sotomayors confirmation.”
Should read: Fewer than half have a freakin’ clue what is going on in this country. WAY fewer!
Why is former major-league baseball player David Cone testifying on behalf of her confirmation? I’ve heard interviews with his ex-teammates who claim he is a total jerk.
Only someone completely ignorant would want this racist woman on the Supreme Court.
CNN got its racist spin orders.
I was channel flipping and they had some moron on there spinning Obama's sinking poll numbers and using terms like "Still extraordinarily personally popular" and "The Obama administration knew this and that was going to happen poll wise". They are as useless as MSNBC, CNN is the original DNC Mouthpiece. Let's hope the Pubbies can really get their act together, could be another brown bagger night for Carville in 2010.
REAL WORLD HEADLINE:
OVER HALF DO NOT SUPPORT SOTOMAYOR’S CONFIRMATION..............
On face value alone...why is it that only Conservatives read that headline as that means over half don't???
Doesn't Partly Cloudy still mean Mostly Sunny???
NOT in the dem world.
There’s a lot of people out there who think, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a Hispanic woman on the Supreme Court, appointed by that nice Barack Obama? Then no one could call us racists!” And these same people pay little or no attention to the news, which is biased anyway, so they have no idea what kind of person Sotomayor is.
The Republicans need to PUBLICIZE her flaws. But that’s not easy, with summer here and the press covering for her.
David Cone is disappointing inserting himself into this. Bloomberg is also disappointing, although totally in character. What does our side have the inability to stick together? This generation of GOP - Bloomberg, Crist, Arnold, McCain, etc. is absolutely terrible. They inherited a healthy conservative party from the 90s and early 2000s and have completely destroyed it.
The spin is so predictable.
