The fear on the street is palpable.
Ever since the election of Barack Obama as President of these United States in November 2008, coupled with the election of a democrat party majority in both the U.S. House and Senate, concern for the United States and personal safety has ignited like a fire in dry grass. Sales of guns black guns, rifles, shotguns and handguns (particularly 9mm) everywhere, have gone through the roof.
AR15s have literally flown off of dealer shelves, and only now in the spring of 2009, have I seen the display samples of ARs begin to reappear on the wall of my favorite shooting emporium after the initial post election rush.

What is odd about this new fear is that it is not coming from the average citizen gun owner out there, but it is coming from what to me is an almost shocking source: street cops. Street cops and SWAT cops that I know from various agencies rural, suburban and metro in my area are scared.
yes
These purchasers werent spending this kind of money just to turn in the guns for no compensation when a government tells them to. I foresee much civil disobedience coming down the road.
Ya Got that right!!
Do they really think that we're all going to just give up private property life saving private property?

And about a million variants.

I prefer the term “Patrol Rifle”
We have a winner!
I think anything that shoots .308 Win/7.62 NATO is a better choice for patriot riflemen, in case you ever really need to reach out and touch someone.
We have a winner!
6 hits with a nine are better than six misses with a .45.
Do you want to start a thread about a SEAL and his .45? The story sounds impossible and that’s why the guy never received the Medal of Honor. I’ll freepmail you the link.
The .45 vs the 9MM are fun as long as we keep it fun.
Actually, a battle rifle caliber is typically a full-power cartridge like 7.62x51 NATO, and the most common battle rifles are the FAL, the G3, and the M14/M1A.
I would put the battle rifle as a subset of the EBRs, with the assault rifles (using a medium power cartidge) as the other major subset.
I’m not going to get into the full auto/select fire vs. semi-auto issue, other than to say I would put these as another way to slice and dice the EBR set.
Keep these handy...

And to make my thoughts and position clear, let me state for the record that I firmly believe Duh!1®, ( click for excruciating details ), his toadies, and most of the crew of critters in DC, are enemies of the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the average Joe or Jane.
They are no friends of America or Americans.

Gun sales started escalating early 2008. The bank failings in March were the original catalyst.
Then came the nomination of McCain...not the most gun-friendly Republican.
The summer battle between Clinton & Obama and their appeals to the left-wing of the party brought the reality of another assault weapon ban to the fore.
The financial and real estate collapse in September created fear of a complete loss of all economic and social security.
The election of Obama cemented the fear of additional firearm restrictions, intrusive government, and economic uncertainty.
The stimulus, auto bankruptcies and other legislation are just driving the concerns held by citizens even more.
The recent “green shoots” positive talk has helped give some people a better feeling about the economy (regardless of truth) and this has slowed the firearm demands. However, the rest of us know that the economy is still getting worse and the firearm demand will come back with a vengence.
Add to this a possible terrorist attack and some civil unrest in the future and we could have a total societal breakdown within 12 months.
I bought my first AR-15 on Nov 4, 2008. Figured I’d beat the rush and the price increases.
I like Sport Utility Rifle.
