Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used the Nazi term 'Judenrein' in a recent meeting with the German foreign minister to condemn the Palestinian demand that West Bank settlements be removed, a confidant of the premier has said.
"Judea and Samaria cannot be Judenrein," the confidant quoted the prime minister as telling Frank-Walter Steinmeier earlier this week.
Asked how Germany's top diplomat responded to hearing the term used by the Nazis to refer to areas "cleansed of Jews", the confidant said, "What could he do? He basically just nodded."
According to the confidant, Netanyahu had encouraged cabinet colleagues to deploy the term in their defense of the settlements and of Israel's insistence that Palestinians recognize it as a Jewish state.
Israel is facing unprecedented U.S. pressure to dismantle settlements to make way for a Palestinian state in the West Bank, an area also known to Jews as Judea and Samaria.
Briefing foreign reporters last week, Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor urged them to ask whether "Palestinians would accept that Jews will live among them, or whether it is going to be totally not allowed".
"'Judenrein' is the term that was once used in other countries," Meridor said, in remarks echoed the next day by another Likud minister who briefed journalists and diplomats.

That must have stung. Brilliant, just brilliant sword thrust by Netanyahu.
Why is it that nobody mentions that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians live inside Israel, every time the Palestinians demand their land be “cleansed” of Israeli settlements?
Are the Palestinians inside Israel going to leave as part of a peace agreement? Hell no.
How about a little equity here folks.
One of their “leaders” spoke at a Colorado conference recently, and flat-out said that Jews would be “welcome” in Palestinian state. He was lying, of course, but he was smart enough to say the correct thing.
That's why we love Bibi.
Couldn't agree more.
I'm amazed the West refuses to face facts here. The reality on the ground has changed since 1967. We have thousands and thousand of Jews living on formerly vacant West Bank land that has now become in reality suburbs of Jerusalem. If these people were anything other than Jews their cause would be championed.
I look at Bibi standing firm for what’s right - and then I look at what we’ve got, a con-man and a clown, and I fear for our country.

Finally someone address' the underlying moral question, why are the United States and Europe advocating an apartheid state.
Western elites largely support continued Arab pressure on Israel and its Jews. Facts, laws, history, etc., mean nothing to that crowd.
The Palis have only said that the Jews must be pushed into the sea.
