Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney is locked in a statistical dead heat with Sarah Palin for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, despite the Alaska governor’s abrupt resignation last week, according to a new poll of Republican voters.

Romney leads all Republican presidential contenders, garnering 25 percent of the vote, edging out Palin (24 percent), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (22) and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (14 percent) in the Rasmussen poll released yesterday.

Romney did not ban “assault rifles” he banned semi automatic rifles, did you miss out on the entire second amendment battles of the last 30 years or so?

My claim is that you’re wrong again

I am not wrong but you are claiming that I have been wrong about something before, what is it? You can't just claim it unless you can point me to it.

I'm leaning toward wilful misinformation in my diagnosis of you.

You stated earlier that: "Sweety they are guns in general, they are rifles, I used to carry an assault rifle, he was not banning those, he was banning rifles like one of mine here at my home. Mitt also labeled us gun owners as owning our rifles only to hunt people down and kill them, we don't like the scum bag."

I never claimed the ban didn't include specific bans on semi-automatics, you claimed (wrongly as always) that it applied to guns in general, and interestingly not to assault weapons. Wrong. Wrong.

Ansel12 has been here a lot longer than you have NOOB, so you may want to cut back on the whole “troll” thing.

It's part of the new “Team Romney” Guide book for Bloggers, 2010 edition.

"Ansel12 has been here a lot longer than you have NOOB, so you may want to cut back on the whole “troll” thing."

Then again, debate and discussions of differing ideas is so much more interesting and rewarding, not necessarily with some people here, but in general.

You are using language that conservatives and especially the ones here at pro gun freerepublic agree is phony, made up liberal gibberish, calling normal semi-automatic sporting and hunting and self defense rifles “assault rifles” is ridiculous since an assault weapon needs to be fully automatic to fulfill it’s purposes for close assault.

You don’t seem to understand that part of the insult and damage that Romney does is to use the language of the left to take away our sporting and hunting rifles and then he throws in his bizarre labeling of us as psychos for even owning them, he did not ban real assault rifles, he banned civilian hunting and sporting rifles.

Seriously did you sleep through the last 30 years when it comes to conservative issues?

#310 and #321 are perfectly true.

#310 is a direct quote from Romney and Romney did not ban “assault rifles” he banned normal semi automatic guns and rifles.

Sarah will take out Romney easily.

In 2008 he was being pimped as a front runner for the nomination and he didn’t win too many primaries. He bombed in NH, a niegboring state to his MA.

But 2012 is a long way off. A lot can happen before then.

“we will be part of the New World Order”

We have always been the “New World Order”. Since Christopher Columbus, America has been known as the New World while Europe is the Old World. What has been referenced as the “New World Order” is simply that people will one day wish to enjoy the same liberties we have, and push for their own independence from often oppressive monarchistic, or dictatorial rule.

And no, I’m not some big government nanny statist either. I just simply look at the whole Old World/New World thing from a common sense outside the box perspective with strong historical leanings. It’s not some big conspiracy as alex jones and the ron paultards would like people like you to believe.

Romney has the media behind him, and Mitt Romney leads his family’s war against conservatism, Romney will take down all the good that he can before he is finished, it will be a costly mess.

Well, which of the weapons specifically banned by the Mass. law would you deem a normal sporting or hunting weapon?: “Assault weapon”, shall have the same meaning as a semiautomatic assault weapon as defined in the federal Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(30) as appearing in such section on September 13, 1994, and shall include, but not be limited to, any of the weapons, or copies or duplicates of the weapons, of any caliber, known as: (i) Avtomat Kalashnikov (AK) (all models); (ii) Action Arms Israeli Military Industries UZI and Galil; (iii) Beretta Ar70 (SC-70); (iv) Colt AR-15; (v) Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR and FNC; (vi) SWD M-10, M-11, M-11/9 and M-12; (vi) Steyr AUG; (vii) INTRATEC TEC-9, TEC-DC9 and TEC-22; and (viii) revolving cylinder shotguns, such as, or similar to, the Street Sweeper and Striker 12; provided, however, that the term assault weapon shall not include: (i) any of the weapons, or replicas or duplicates of such weapons, specified in appendix A to 18 U.S.C. section 922 as appearing in such appendix on September 13, 1994, as such weapons were manufactured on October 1, 1993; (ii) any weapon that is operated by manual bolt, pump, lever or slide action; (iii) any weapon that has been rendered permanently inoperable or otherwise rendered permanently unable to be designated a semiautomatic assault weapon; (iv) any weapon that was manufactured prior to the year 1899; (v) any weapon that is an antique or relic, theatrical prop or other weapon that is not capable of firing a projectile and which is not intended for use as a functional weapon and cannot be readily modified through a combination of available parts into an operable assault weapon; (vi) any semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds of ammunition; or (vii) any semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine."

"You don’t seem to understand that part of the insult and damage that Romney does is to use the language of the left to take away our sporting and hunting rifles and then he throws in his bizarre labeling of us as psychos for even owning them, he did not ban real assault rifles, he banned civilian hunting and sporting rifles."

Again, I think you're being misleading in your characterization of uzis and AKs as 'civilian hunting and sporting rifles,' and he didn't call anyone a psycho, he described assault weapons as being for killing people...which IS what they're for.

Seriously did you sleep through the last 30 years when it comes to conservative issues?

No. I don't support the ban, actually. Though I think reasonable minds can differ.

Yep and from what I have read, ol’ Barry himself was very much pro-abortion, pro-pot, and several other things that would not go well with all but a very small fringe of the Republican Party.

Barry also went on to endorse Democrat Karan English in an Arizona congressional race, urged Republicans to lay off Bill Clinton over the Whitewater scandal, and criticized the military’s ban on homosexuals.

I would guess that if he were still around today he would be all for gay rights too.

For God's sake, look at the list, all of them.

The shotguns, the Colt, the Steyr, the AK rifles, the FN/FAL, all of these on the list are popular sporting and or hunting rifles and pistols.

By the way I was agreeing with you, it is just that Romney will take much before he leaves, no one knows what Romney’s agenda is, even his followers never bother with trying to pretend that he desires anything good for our nation, they just want him in power.

You think AKs and Uzi are 'normal sporting and hunting rifles'? What animal does one exactly hunt with an Uzi? Please, talk about phony language!

Personally, I would prefer that we conservatives speak the truth too...that these weapons are for killing people, not for 'hunting or sporting,' that the Second Amendment provides us this right in order to protect ourselves, most especially from the tyranny of government oppression, and that since these very weapons are the kinds which one might expect a government to use in the suppression of its people, it is reasonable for the people to also retain these weapons in support of their liberty.
