When rallying in the streets of Tegucigalpa for the ousted President Manuel Zelaya, Alejandra Fernandez, a 23-year-old university student told a journalist why she supported Zelaya: "He raised the minimum wage, gave out free school lunches, provided milk for the babies and pensions for the elderly, distributed energy-saving light bulbs, decreased the price of public transportation, made more scholarships available for students."
"That's why the elite classes can't stand him and why we want him back," Alejandra explained. "This is really a class struggle."

Free stuff! Free stuff!!
Deja voodoo
I guess this is a new entry to the leftie chatechism:
Free lunches.
Free buses.
And now, free “energy-saving light bulbs.”
why she supported Zelaya: “He raised the minimum wage, gave out free school lunches, provided milk for the babies and pensions for the elderly, distributed energy-saving light bulbs, decreased the price of public transportation, made more scholarships available for students.”
Correctionto the above statement.
Zelaya gave NOTHING to anyone. He (Zelaya) has nothing to give. All he can do is what any other Communist does. Steal it from those that produce and give it to those that do not.
“He raised the minimum wage, gave out free school lunches, provided milk for the babies and pensions for the elderly, distributed energy-saving light bulbs, decreased the price of public transportation, made more scholarships available for students.”
Same ol’, same ol’ Leftist, Commie Crap of using OPM to buy the loyalty of the primarily empty headed youth, and dependent elderly. Nothing of this is other than buying voters.
The Left is inundated, saturated, satiated, with these sorts of wannabes’. If a Leftist could, the Leftist would have a dialogue bubble perpetually overhead stating whom they are, using all three names.
Any speech from the democrats when they want another trillion in pork.
Earn it!
I argue this point with a liberal cousin all the time and he gets infuriated with the fact that he can’t explain why the right has any reason for wishing him to suffer.
The fact is that I don’t want him to suffer. I want him to do whatever the hell he wants with his life, as long as he doesn’t take from me to do it.
I even offer him a “solution”. I tell him to start a liberal business that caters exclusively to liberals and then he can share his profits freely with all other liberals. He knows this won’t work so I suggest that the left “take” what George Soros, Al Gore, or Ted Turner has. After all, those people have private jets, limos and mansions that they don’t need.
amen...legalized theft is socialism! We will fight it to the death...hopefully it’s death.
Who wants to bet the “energy-saving light bulbs” in Honduras was actually some test runs of the carbon trading scam where in exchange, some California industrial was actually allowed to use power.
Tsk tsk. Lefties love to pretend there’s some sort of nobility in their naked greed.
“Alejandra Fernandez, a 23-year-old university student told a journalist why she supported Zelaya: ‘He raised the minimum wage, gave out free school lunches, provided milk for the babies and pensions for the elderly, distributed energy-saving light bulbs, decreased the price of public transportation, made more scholarships available for students.’”
Does anybody else think the journalist made this up? Maybe she pointed to one or two things, but nobody who’s not a talking point robot would spout a list like that. Especially not the light bulb part. I can’t imagine an average citizen anywhere in the world cares about light bulbs, except those who until recently didn’t have electricity.
yes he raised the minimum wage, bue he didn’t measured the impact on the publick finances, just like someone i knOw. now we are in a crisis, because he refused to send a budget for its aproval, and he gave away all the poverty reduction funds and the remission of our national debt.
sorry for that extra k in public.
Good catch. It’s most unlikely to be a real quote.
These people don't understand economics: higher mandated wages means fewer people working, means more poverty. Government can raise taxes and redistribute to this constituency, but the higher taxes stifle future economic growth and discourage investment, both local and foreign. All this ensures is that everyone is equally poor, living at subsistence levels. Dreams, squashed. Incentives, squashed.
If they GAVE it to you they could do that as a PRIVATE CITIZEN...
