"Anything our enemy can do to shut down our government probably helps us right now more than it hurts us."AMEN to that , I was already thinking the same thing. What I was thinking actually was- starting a coordinated campaign to write/E-mail the Chinese Embassy, asking them to cease all loans to Obumma, and dump all of our bonds that they hold. Making sure that we tell the Chinese Embassy that the USA will not repay, just might starve the administration of further indebtedness that will destroy our country. Any comments?

I was hesitant about saying what I did... so i worded it carefully to express a sentiment... not intent.
I seriously doubt this bafoon needs any help from us in bringing this country down... and we sure don't need to give him any valid reasons to blame us for it.
Sounds like the country is starting to wiggle a little bit. Maybe they will wake up by 2010 so we will have less work to do after the Chinese have their way with us... so lets not join the efforts to bring our own house down.

Can someone explain to me why all these government agencies are connected to external networks? Does the Deputy Under Secretary of Transportation really need access to porn sites during the workday? Are they planning their next holiday on our tax dollar?

There's a bit more information at this story:
US websites buckle under sustained DDoS attacks.
From that article:
The DDoS attacks appear to be originating from compromised computers located primarily in the Asia Pacific region and are being delivered as plain-vanilla floods of ping, syn and UDP packets, said the person, who asked not to be identified because he wasn't authorized to share the details. [ ... ] There seems to be some confusion about just how powerful the attacks are. The person familiar with the attacks said they were relatively modest. "Most are easy to mitigate," the person familiar with them said. "I'm surprised any of these attacks are as effective as they are." But an unidentified person briefed by government investigators told IDG News the attacks directed as much as 20 gigabytes to 40 gigabytes of bandwidth per second during their height over the weekend. They have since settled down to about 1.2 gigabytes per second, IDG said.

I don’t know much about programming but if most our products are made in other countries wouldn’t it be simpler to just hide a virus from the factory? Eh, maybe not.

North Korea.
According to initial reports from South Korean Intelligence.
More will be known tomorrow (Asia time) in briefings to South Korean legislators. From there, it will be undoubtedly made public.

Thank you. As I surmised on another thread today:
My take? Probably something nasty coming out of Kimchaek Institute of Technology in Pyongyang and/or from the Graduate Division of Pyongyang Computer Technical College- ....these are crack teams developed under the aegis of the Korean Peoples Armybut this might be low level stuff, just testing and probing. It is clear whom they want to hit, though. Usually one KPA lieutenant is in charge of a core/team of DPRK cyber attackers. Sources: South Korean media our time, tonight.

I blame Ebaums. Bunch of hackers on steroids - a hive of villainy like no other. Even as you read this, eBaum's World is planning the destruction of over 9,000 different targets worldwide with their ability to explode vans of all kinds with cyber-telekinesis. Some argue that they have the ability to access any page on the tubes at any time, with a single keystroke. Noone is safe.

Yes. It will cascade internationally. And with great speed I predict. The man simply invites it from our adversaries, with his talk and his policy.

Simple floods? A modern router/firewall combo can easily take care of these.
