VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict called on Tuesday for a "world political authority" to manage the global economy and for more government regulation of national economies to pull the world out of the current crisis and avoid a repeat.
The pope made his call for a re-think of the way the world economy is run in a new encyclical which touched on a number of social issues but whose main connecting thread was how the current crisis has affected both rich and poor nations.
Parts of the encyclical, titled "Charity in Truth," seemed bound to upset free marketeers because of its underlying rejection of unbridled capitalism and unregulated market forces, which he said had led to "thoroughly destructive" abuse of the system.
The pope said every economic decision had a moral consequence and called for "forms of redistribution" of wealth overseen by governments to help those most affected by crises.
Benedict said "there is an urgent need of a true world political authority" whose task would be "to manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result."

And yet both the new man and the old man are both sinners and will continue to be so. And neither has absolute assurance of salvation. The new man, however, has hope or salvation as St. Paul said, but the old man has nothing.

So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
It would actually best be described as

Chapter 2
1
1 My son, when you come to serve the LORD, prepare yourself for trials.
2
Be sincere of heart and steadfast, undisturbed in time of adversity.
3
Cling to him, forsake him not; thus will your future be great.
4
Accept whatever befalls you, in crushing misfortune be patient;
5
For in fire gold is tested, and worthy men in the crucible of humiliation.
6
Trust God and he will help you; make straight your ways and hope in him.
7
You who fear the LORD, wait for his mercy, turn not away lest you fall.
8
You who fear the LORD, trust him, and your reward will not be lost.
9
You who fear the LORD, hope for good things, for lasting joy and mercy.
10
Study the generations long past and understand; has anyone hoped in the LORD and been disappointed? Has anyone persevered in his fear and been forsaken? has anyone called upon him and been rebuffed?
11
Compassionate and merciful is the LORD; he forgives sins, he saves in time of trouble.
12
2 Woe to craven hearts and drooping hands, to the sinner who treads a double path!
13
Woe to the faint of heart who trust not, who therefore will have no shelter!
14
Woe to you who have lost hope! what will you do at the visitation of the LORD?
15
Those who fear the LORD disobey not his words; those who love him keep his ways.
16
Those who fear the LORD seek to please him, those who love him are filled with his law.
17
Those who fear the LORD prepare their hearts and humble themselves before him.
18
Let us fall into the hands of the LORD and not into the hands of men, For equal to his majesty is the mercy that he shows.
I’m afraid some folks here will never truly understand what it means to be born again of the Spirit of God. Very sad.
But thank God that there will be a remnant from these churches that will not bow the knee to the tyrant.
Excellent, as always.
Thanks for the ping!
INDEED.
PRAISE GOD.
Mary,
Please explain in more detail what you mean by “remnant”... I think we may have a couple of different interpretations of this word... Personally I believe that the “remnant” in the “church age” which we are presently in INCLUDES all of those who are saved and does not refer to a paticular “organization” of human design....
No, it’s not of human design. IMO, it’s those who are saved and still following the Lord, those who have not been deceived by the anti-christ. Unfortunately, many ‘church goers’ will fall away, but His children will not.
Mary,
Please expain what you mean by “saved and still following the Lord”? Please explain your view on the seven year Tribulation Period as described in the Book of Revelation.
Are the “Saved” going to be present during that time?
Since I’m a pre-wrath believer, I think the saved will be taken away just before the Lord pours out His wrath on the unsaved, unbelievers. Others who are pre-trib, the most common belief, feel differently. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
