US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was to meet here Tuesday with Honduran leader Manuel Zelaya, in his highest level talks with the Obama administration since being ousted in an army-backed coup.
The State Department said the meeting was scheduled for 1:00 pm (1700 GMT) at Clinton's offices in the State Department building in Washington, but no media access is being granted.
During a visit to Nicaragua on Monday, Zelaya said he would travel later in the evening to Washington for talks with Clinton.
Zelaya met last week with Tom Shannon, the assistant secretary of state for western hemisphere affairs, on the sidelines of an Organization of American States (OAS) talks in Washington, US officials said.
He did not meet either with Clinton, who was working at home that day to recover from a broken elbow, or with President Barack Obama.
On Sunday, he flew from Washington to Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, aboard a Venezuelan plane, in an abortive attempt to return after being hastily ousted on June 28.

Brilliant Hillary, give credibility to a criminal who tried to overthrow the constitution of his country. Hillary is a fat walking idiot.
More sniper fire?
Or was she in between Chris Dodd and a TV camera?
The Politburo is getting together.
A meeting with D-List official.
Hillary, with her wing in a sling is what, a B-List official?
Used: Battle axe, needs work.
Mischaracterization. Zelaya was making a mockery of legal government. The army stepped in, threw him out, and restored the constitutional system, and then stood down. Nothing like a coup.
What the HELL for
Lie. The only difference if this had been attempted by one of our presidents is he would have been removed by the Federal Marshals, not our military -- they don't have the same setup in Honduras.
And so much for the vaunted foreign policy experience of Joe Biden, (none) and the thirty-five years of experience of Hillary Clinton, (non-existent, you can't claim being the spouse of a pol as personal experience), if neither of these two can comprehend the actuality of the situation. This is a disgrace, to have a man who attempted to take over his country the way he did be welcomed to the WH for serious discussion is worse than have Gerry Adams welcomed by Bill Clinton.
It is a dangerous portend ... something tells me this jerk is going to request OUR military to re-install him, worse, that we may actually do so.
Absolutely disgraceful.
WHERE THE HELL IS THE GOP LEADERSHIP ON THIS??? WHY ARE THEY SILENT WHEN THESE BLATANT LIES ARE TOLD?!
The GOP estasblishment is not capable of taking a strong position on anything except a repudiation of conservative values.
My understanding is that he is not the Honduran leader anymore.
ML/NJ
Megan McCain will get around to it eventually on her blog. Colin Powell is too busy trying to ram through the Sotomayor confirmation. Orrin Hatch is holding hearings about college football.
I think that covers everyone.

ML/NJ ****
And he isnt going to be in the future.Unless we help him perform a Coup.
Hmm. Guess they are talking about starting a Govt in exile in Miami. Will it be funded by the CIA and start working to overthrow the democratic govt in Honduras. Working hand an glove with Chavez. Maybe we could help train up Chavez’s armed forces for the effort..or supply some c-17’s to air drop the rebel army in. At least we could send in some Predators to try and hunt down the elected representatives of the people..and the judges who threw him out. The sky is the limit here.
Old Crusty is up to her old tricks again.
AWOL. This is the only comment I have seen, either way: Senator DeMint Statement - July 2, 2009
And the GOP sits silent while communists take over Latin American and our government.

What I want to know is has she or will she have any dialog with the representatives of the new (legal) government.
