Evidence continues to accumulate that President Obama regards the Constitution's requirements as merely suggestions. ABC News reports:

With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate's constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a "provisional basis" until the Senate ratifies the treaty. Jonah Goldberg comments, "Senat, Shhmenate". The Anchoress provides a roundup of web commentary.

Zer0 is throwing away the ability we have built up over the years to defend ourselves.

When the massacre begins, he needs to be the first to be tried for disobeying what he swore to protect, our Constitution.

I will be interested to see how the Senate Democrats react to this. They may be all Democrats, but they also have big egos. And I don’t think they will take kindly to Obama taking their power from them.

Can we cut throught the bullshit for a second? Has there been an administration in the last 50 years that has viewed the Consitution as anything other than optional?

Impeachment? yeah, right. Obama could shoot Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh between the eyes as part of the televised Super Bowl halftime show and the gangsters in the House wouldn’t impeach him.

Bush should have been impeached for failing to enforce our border and immigration laws.

Obama should have been impeached on general principles as soon as he took office.

Americans have become gutless, spineless wimps. Will never happen.

Contracts, laws, and any decisions made by people in the past

are inherently void when in conflict with contemporary decisions of the elite.

This is how leftists view the world.

Why do you want to obfuscate the matter like that?

-1bama is a Kenyan-born Manchurian President and here you are defending him by saying "They all do it."

I suppose that given the choice, you'd rather see him remain in office than see him gone.

Wolfie,
You speak the truth. Obama is just going farther down the same path his predecessors blazed.
The Congress ignores the enumerated powers of Congress.
The Supreme Court finds Constitutional penumbra in Swedish sociologists.
The President(s) appoint all types of czars without Senate confirmation. The President(s) cut deals on foreign trade with no Senate confirmation.

Obama has just gone farther down the same path.

Good point. I've always called him -1bama just because I like it better than 0.

Until new polling data emerges, let's call him -2. I like it. Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me.

The constitution is crystal clear on this. The office of the President negotiates the treaties and the Senate has to ratify them. As far as I know, there has been no treaty that was not ratified by 2/3 of the Senate that we have obeyed.

Obama said during the campaign, that our constitution is, “a flawed document”.......(I would like Obama to tell Thomas Jefferson that, by the way) and the reason Obama said it was flawed was because there was nothing in it about,”redistribution of income.” (Marx 101)

Most of what Obama is doing is unconstitutional. Where in the constitution does it say the President can, “remake America,” or seize control of major corporations?

By 'massacre', do you mean Nuclear war? If such a massacre began, there's be few left to hold a trial. And the Constitution would be set aside, with the Presidency in Obama's hands until he felt satisfied to return to the Constitution.
