Cracks in Democratic Party show split between centrists and liberals [barf]
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2009-07-06 | Reid Wilson

Democrats have big majorities in both houses of Congress, but cracks are emerging — both legislatively and politically — that threaten to pit liberals and centrists against each other.

Where President Bush was able to enforce tight discipline on the Republican Conference while his political advisers exercised an iron grip on the national party, President Obama and his advisers have been less able to do so.

That, political watchers say, is not unusual, especially for a Democratic president.

“The Democrats have always been herding cats,” said Rhodes Cook, an independent political analyst. “They’ve always been considered to be the more diverse party, more racially diverse, more ethnically diverse” and, therefore, more ideologically diverse, he added.

Now that diversity is manifesting itself.

I think my memory is failing because I sure don’t remember an iron grip on the GOP by Pres Bush. If had an iron grip unfortunately we would have had Harriet Myers. What am I missing?

Where do they come up with this crap?

Handwriting on the wall is “the American people are enraged and want all incumbents out.” Only Liberal morons will ignore the Tea Party signs and growing anger among their own base.

IMO, the beginning of the end has already begun. The American people are becoming enraged at the destruction of their country and our Constitution. Hussein and Congress are CORRUPTION personified. No amount of MSM perfume heaped upon Liberal manure will keep the stink from seeping out. It has already begun.

I don’t see how they can write this crap and expect everything to believe it when it is an outright lie. ZERO ethics in journalism from people like this.

Republican do stand more in solidarity - but the iron grip is a little over the top. We did get almost everything Bush wanted pushed through - I am willing to bet he had a better success ratio of any sitting president since FDR.

Democrats don’t really serve anyone but whatever special interest put that particular crook in office. Their lack of organization is the best thing we have going for us right now in Washington.

The rage is growing. If the economy remains moribund through the 2010 elections, however, there will be real anti-incumbent electoral rage at the polls, and the Democrats will take the brunt of it.

The iron grip I was laughing about with having Specter and the two women from Maine on our side at the time.

I think the reason they vote the majority of time together has more to do with ideology then anything.

I hope so. My concern is that socialist-marxist-fascists like 0booooooooomba & his socialist commie fellow demoRATs, along with their in-the-tank partisan media, will NEVER NEVER NEVER give up socialism or its destructive programs without a fight to the end. I don't believe the average American or even many conservatives realize that we already at war against the demoRAT socialists for the future of this nation. So far the socialists have cleaned our clocks in 2006 & 2008, courtesy of master appeaser & bumbling incompetent fool, GW Bush. I hope the outrage against the current Congress & 0booooooooomba grows to tsunami proportions to sweep the socialists out AND their devastating programs & ideology. I am not so sure that Republican leaders are up to the task of purging this country from socialism.

Who do they think they're kidding? Democrats don't put up with dissent. They are all cookie cutter libs: Pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, anti-war, anti-America, anti-capitalism. Where is this iron grip on Republicans? How about McCain, Dewine, Chaffey, Specter, Collins, Snowe, Voinovich? And those are just a few of the RINOs off the top of my head.

I was at the April 15th Tea Party at our state capitol. There were several Democrats around me. I promise you they were every bit as angry as we are. That rage has only intensified since April. As more and more people become unemployed and the “change” they voted for is the sewer, their anger will be directed at all politicians. The Elitists in DC and in state offices all over this nation are TOAST. I was at a July 4th party where the sentiment was “no more career politicians, period!” I’m voting for housewives and janitors, if need be, but no career politicians. I don’t think my friends are unique in their anger and their desire to “clean out” Congress and Zero.

The Democrats will abandon Obama once the people see him as the cause of all their misery. Republicans will go down with a sinking ship, flags waving as they go under. Democrats are like rats that will abandon a sinking ship as soon as it starts to take on water. These selfish, greedy, elements in the Democrat Party will doom them in the end. They have no loyalty only factions. In time the Pro-Clinton faction will take Obama down. Prediction time:
Hillary will have a dust up with Obama in 2010-2011. She will quit and mount a new presidential bid. She will try to run as a (get this and don’t laugh) a Conservative old school Democrat. The media will back her as they lose their idealism for Obama’s Arrogance. The Republicans will mount Mitt Rommney as the Old Man of the moment. Sarah Palin will try for the Republican ticket and get shot down forcing the formation of a 3rd Party. Obama will be caught in scandals (formatted by Hillary and her cronies) and he will be forced out in scandal and riots. That’s my take—I will take off the swami’s Turban and see what happens.

Massive voter fraud via ACORN has to be stopped. It must be investigated and prosecuted. It is up to the American people to demand it.

The current leadership of the GOP isn’t capable of finding their gonads with both hands and a mirror. Forget them fighting anyone. They’re eunuchs!

maybe in the heyday of the Rat party....back in the 60's and 70's were you actually had a whole TENT of ideas, conservative and liberal, and moderate, with a big slice of American patriotism, you would have honest Rats oppose the powers that be....but no more....

now, its lock, stock , and barrel for the Rats....

The author is clearly delusional and off his meds.

I can remember the days of the northern Republicans like in Ohio, IN, IL with a coalition of So Dems to defeat the NE Liberals of both parties. That was in the day when in the Senate they would fight like cats and dogs and go have dinner together. That doesn’t exist any more.
