Weekend tally: 10 slayings, 63 shootings July 6, 2009 6:51 AM | 57 Comments
The weekend that started violently has ended the same way.
Another four people were slain overnight, Chicago police said this morning.
Before that, six people had been killed and more than 20 wounded on city streets from Saturday into Sunday.
From the start of the holiday weekend midnight Friday until the early hours of this morning there were 63 shootings and one stabbing, according to police sources.
The most recent homicides include:
Everette Snow, 18, of the 2200 block of East 78th Street. He was shot mutliple times, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police responded to a call at about 1 a.m. today and found Snow shot in the head, said News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. A stepbrother who fled the scene is now in custody, police said, but no charges have been filed yet.
Deonte Scott, 22, of the 400 block of West 116th Street was found shot outside of his home at about 11 p.m. Sunday, police said. Scott was outside his residence when three offenders approached and shots rang out, police said. The three offenders fled the scene, police said. It is not clear if all three were firing weapons.

Wow! It’s a good thing they have gun control in Chicago otherwise there would be...wait, never mind.
Quagmire!
Beat me to it.
It must be terrible to be Alan Keyes, Michael Steele or Bob Park and see the complete deterioration of black society. It is bearing a striking similarity to lawless African nations where violence is the cure all for any disagreement.
When seconds count the Police are just minutes away. God made man, Sam Colt made them equal.
coddle criminals and prevent good citizens from protecting themselves and thats the Chicago you get.
I cannot dismiss the culpability of “humanitarian” ventures, such as LBJ’s Great Society program (I think that was its title), in destroying the Black family, just as Rev. M. L. King, Jr., predicted it would. Governments can do many things, some of them constitutional and otherwise appropriate, and some not, but playing substitute for displaced fathers is not one for which government is equipped.
vaudine
it’s the democrat plantation—
plant racial discord and take away education and jobs.
tsk...tsk...tsk
Silly normal person, don't you know that all we need are some more city/state/federal programs to "educate," promote "social justice" and "provide opportunity" to the downtrodden and misunderstood? Comrade Obama will show us the way.
yeah...I just made myself a little nauseous just be typing that out.

Looks like a community that needs organizing.
Ten less people on welfare.
I know nobody wants to point out the obvious but as a former born-and-raised-Chicagoan who left 40 years ago, I see nothing has changed.
The South Side, where all these shootings took place, was always the “bad” side of town. A lot of the housing projects were there and just generally poorer and more lawless neighborhoods. Those of us who lived on the North Side knew better than to go south of Roosevelt Road - and even that was “iffy”.
Nothing will ever change in Chicago.
Wow! Chicago is ahead of Juarez, Mexico for the weekend! Any beheadings??

El Diario (Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua) 7/2/09
Juarez started the month of July with six homicides in the first day, all in different events and in different areas of the city.
Damn those awful guns. There the only thing the poor African American children have to play with.
"Well boys, 'they' are starting to wake up."Now this 'could' be seen as racist, but not a peep from any Sergeants on Patrol.
I just chuckled as I've been listening to CPD bands since the late 1960's - early 1970's and this 'cop talk' was nothing new.
We’ve lost in Chicago!!!!!
Tom Daschle is deeply saddened.
