Why did Sarah Palin step down?
Theories abound. But some of the people closest to the Alaska governor say she wanted to regain control of a political script that slipped out of her hands the moment she burst onto the national stage. She also wanted to shield herself and her family from the attacks that seem to have been aimed permanently at them in the 311 days since Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced her as his running mate, according to some former campaign aides and other advisers who speak regularly with Palin or her husband, Todd.
The Sarah Palin who stood outside her Wasilla, Alaska, lakefront home Friday to surrender her term with 18 months remaining appeared vulnerable and anything but the pugnacious hockey mom and combative candidate whom Americans came to either adore or revile. She just wants a chance to position herself better for a national run.
She has been Mayor.
She has been Governor.
The ONLY remaining job she needs to insure the presidency is to be a ‘’’COMMUNITY ACTIVIST’’’.
Or can see her ‘teaming up’ with a Rush Limbaugh type (he is probably to reviled to ‘help’ her) but once she gets a National Platform and some quality air time she can put the message out.....

I don’t agree. She would have been out in 2010. Do you really believe Americans will support a politician who quit the governorship in order to run for higher office? She will be seen as a calculating politician at best in this scenario.
She would do more for the nation, in my opinion, to take over the RNC and kick out Steele. She could get much mire done for this nation as opposed to running for office - that could come later...
This would:
* Bring conservative principles back to the RNC (small government, get government out of our lives, lower taxes, 2nd amendment support, state's rights, small business support, strong defense, non-nonsense foreign policies) Conservatism works every time it is tried.
* She could be a credible spokesperson for energy, drilling, etc in light of sane environmental impact.
* She could, on a daily basis, take the wind out of Barry's sails on a host of his anti-American issues (bank take-overs, nationalization of sectors of the economy, socialism, bigger government, anti-job creation). Her media appeal would shift away from the daily barrage of "new plans" put out by Barry, Rahm, Steffy, and David. She would be a countervailing force to the crap we get from the White Crib.
* She could - and this is the biggest reason - help with a 1994-esque take-over of both houses and start blocking the hopey-dopey-change-strangey crap we have had for the last 6 months.
She was doing that until the Democrats started occupying 80% of her time and money plus state ressources with fending of frivolous ethic complaints. She wanted to spare Alaska this and gave this explicitly as a reason.
Now that makes sense. I believe she has given up her political ambitions as well. She probably got sick of the nonsense involved. I do believe she should have finished out her term though.
So, disagreement leads to being called a DU’er. Come on man give the guy a break, hes entitled to have an opinion just like you are.
A 45 year old mother of five and grandmother, who was Mayor, Entrepeneur, on the Oil and Gas Comission and Governor is a “child”?
She was governor during the Letterman fiasco. She seemed to do just fine, and came out on top. So why step down?
If anything, I think taking on a more national presence, outside the isolation of Alaska, will open her up to further flack.
LOL! My take on this is she can do a lot more for the country - and herself - by resigning now than if she were still constricted by the Governor's office responsibilities and liabilities and the inevitable ethics complaints that were wasting her time and money. She is set to make some serious money for herself now - and she can work on her policy smarts and fortify her support. I think in future days those who were attacking her with the ethics complaints may end up being quite sorry they hounded her from the Governor's office because she is now more free to become more of a nightmare for them.
Anyone who is calling her a quitter is conveniently ignoring Obama - who never even tried to be Senator (Sarah accomplished a lot as Governor) or Hillary who said she'd never quit and then did.

I don’t buy that argument. She quit for two reasons in my opinion. The first reason is there really is some scandal brewing (God forbid). The second reason is that she is sick of the political game and wants to go home to her family and perhaps be a spokeswoman for causes she believes in (more power to her);although, she should have finished her term).

She is a player. Just her existing represents more charisma than BO the illegal moron will even have.
I see her resignation as a positive thing from a few different tangents. She can now truly take off the gloves if she decides it is what she wants to do. She can stop the pointless waste of taxpayer money fighting an endless stream of frivolous ethics complaints (gee, a politician who isn't immediately ready to piss away millions of taxpayers dollars to further her personal ambitions, imagine that). She is free now to recuperate the $500k+ of debt incurred from those frivolous lawsuits without that being used against her as well (seeing as how the left uses tactics to bankrupt their adversaries).
Being a politician is not the same as enlisting in the military as far as the ‘she should have served out her term’ argument goes. The reasons she personally spelled out make me WANT to vote for her AND POLITICIANS WHO BEHAVE IN THE SAME MANNER! She best served her constituents with this move after deciding not to run for reelection regardless of her future choices of whether to run for another political office.
We NEED more politicians who think of their constituents, and I think it's more than obvious that our current batch of representatives could care less about those they are supposed to ‘serve’.
The attacks on Trig by the left is what I consider a hate crime. I believe Sarah will fight for the right of the handicapped to live in this society with dignity.

I am amazed that they have not already covered the country side with process servers.
I expect a politician that I vote for to fulfill his/her official duties...not use my state as a stepping stone to higher office. I didn’t approve of this when the Dems did it (Obama, Clinton). I can not approve the GOP engaging in this behavior either. Her behavior makes me less likely to vote for her. I would have to understand her actions completely before having enough confidence to help elect her to the highest office in the land.
