State of the Union: Powell 'concerned' about Obama's agenda
CNN ^ | 7/3/09

Posted on 07/03/2009 8:44:49 PM PDT by FromLori

n a wide-ranging interview set to air Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, one of President Barack Obama's most prominent Republican supporters says he is 'concerned' about the new president's ambitious agenda and the high price tags accompanying many of Obama's initiatives. "I'm a little concerned," former Secretary of State Colin Powell says. "I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them."

Powell also seems to sound a note of warning to the young president.

"I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I've talked to some of his people about this — is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all. And we can't pay for it all."

Even as he raises concerns about the new Democratic president's agenda, Powell also seems to back away from some of his own conservative views.

"I don't like slogans anymore like 'limited government.' That's not the right answer. The right answer is, give me a government that works."

"The people want their problems solved," Powell also says in the interview. "And very often, it's government that has to do that. So let's have good government, effective government, whether you call it limited or not."

Despite his concerns, Powell also tells CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that he has a "very good" relationship with president.

"I have met with him not too long ago. I don't insert myself. But we stay in touch," the former Bush aide says of Obama.

Let the record show I let that one go.

Colin Powell is either impressively stupid or, well... just impressively stupid. How could he be not be surprised at everything 0bama has done? 0bama was 100% articulate in describing his socialist policies and anyone with half a brain (which obviously doesn't describe a majority of voters in the USA anymore) could plainly see that this guy was going to be a trainwreck.

Powell's 15 minutes were over the second he endorsed 0bama. He owns defeat now.

Powell is a racist.

He voted for Obama because he is black.

He's “in touch” because Obama is black.

So much for principles...

Stupid RINO. I know the GOP has been “concerned” about Powell’s agenda for some time now.

Colin Powell is confused and irrelevant. The Obamunist media love the guy, but he has nothing to offer Republicans or conservatives.

Between Colon Bowel’s “Concern” re:0 destroying our country and 0’s concern about the slaughter of the Iranian people fighting for freedom, the potential of a missile being aimed at Hawaii, and Chavez’s buddy in Honduras...there is an awful lot of concern in DC. Concerned must be the new buzzword.

Powell is a blithering IDIOT.

I would venture to say that he supported Obama simply because of the color of his skin, but then any time he opens his mouth, you get the impression he supports his policies too.

Until you listen for a few words, and you realize Powell has no idea what policies Obama supports, and has no ideas of his own to expand on.

What a frikking Useful Idiot of a Tool.

Obama is DEEPLY CONCERNED about Powell being CONCERNED.
