Investments for Manufacturing Progress and Clean Technology (IMPACT) Act
Sherrod Brown, Senator Ohio | 07/1/2009 | Sherrod Brown

Posted on 07/03/2009 6:29:14 PM PDT by EBH

Thank you for sharing your views about energy legislation.

Effective clean energy legislation will reduce carbon emissions and promote the production of renewable energy—but most importantly it will also ensure the creation of new clean energy jobs and industries. Clean energy legislation must also ensure the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers and protect consumers by keeping utility rates affordable. We must work to reduce our dependence on foreign oil by making America a global leader in clean energy manufacturing.

For this reason, I recently announced legislation called the Investments for Manufacturing Progress and Clean Technology (IMPACT) Act. This legislation, which was included in the House energy bill, would support manufacturers' transition to the clean energy economy and ensure clean energy jobs are created here in the U.S. This legislation would create a revolving loan fund for small and medium size manufacturers to retool and expand facilities to produce clean energy technology and energy efficient products. It is estimated this measure will create hundreds of thousands of new jobs.

A growing consensus of scientists agree that human activities are contributing to rising sea levels, extreme weather, and climate change across the globe. As the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, the United States has a clear obligation to be at the forefront of climate change policy. Without action, we risk our health and the health of future generations, the well-being of our coastal areas, and the productivity of our farms, forests, and fisheries.

As climate change legislation continues to be discussed in Congress, I will work to ensure that an unfair burden is not placed on Ohio families and businesses and that clean energy legislation creates new jobs and economic opportunities across Ohio.

I will certainly keep your views in mind as this legislation moves through Congress. Thank you again for writing.

Sincerely,

Sherrod Brown, United States Senator

What a moron! But then again he is a Democrat Senator.

Caligula’s horse appointed to the Roman Senate had more sense and probably emitted less “green house” gas -— methane

More BS on clean energy jobs. Spain tried it didn’t work. They lost more jobs than were ceated. They have an unemployment rate of 17+%.

“We must work to reduce our dependence on foreign oil by making America a global leader in clean energy manufacturing.”
So we reduce our dependence on foreign oil(Ha)only to increase our dependence on foreign carbon credits.
Welfare for dictators.

There is another way to reduce our dependence. It is called drilling for our own oil. Now that is a novel concept. We have resources they do not want us to use. This is all based on the fictious political science of global warming.

Exactly what are “clean energy jobs” and how many jobs will be created?
Are they temporary positions or can one expect “permanent” employment?

Will the wage scale be equal to or greater than the beginning wage scale of a Wal-Mart greeter employee’s wages??

Will ACORN’s census takers ask the potential candidates if they have ever voted for a Republican? (Which may eliminate any chance of being hired if the ACORN employee enters “YES” on the questionnaire)!

The point is we must make contact with them. We must write, call, and encourage them or discourage them as the case may be. Both Brown and Voinovich received the same letter word for word from me.

Brown's response tells me he has more than just a twisted vote in this legislation, he has money of this vote as well as prestige to his constituency. His IMPACT amendment puts him a stake in.

Where does Voinovich stand? Most likely he will be a yes vote. He is on the energy committee and again he will have a stake in this legislation too. Republicans have been trying to push a Energy Manhattan Project piece of legislation to no avail. We will see things inserted into this to try to appease us, especially here in Ohio.

That is how I see the letter from Brown. I am to be appeased with the prospects of job creation. None of which will still address the outrageous costs being inflicted on Ohioans.

Let me guess......

They going to destroy most all manufacturing & energy jobs to create all of these other “Clean Energy” jobs out of thin air. AND keep energy prices “affordable”.

Typical Democrat pie-in-in-the-sky, “we'll let them eat cake”, and “We have all the answers”, rhetoric.

But the American Public is eating it up crumb after crumb.
