Sarah Palins announcement today that she is stepping down from her position as governor of Alaska, effective in two weeks, took the political world by surprise. Alaskas lieutenant governor will be sworn in soon as that states chief executive in Pioneer Park. This will all be very orderly, but both the MSM outlets and the new media the ones who are not out of town, taking mini-vacations for the Fourth of July are oddly off-balance about the whole episode.
To be sure, part of Mrs. Palins announcement was expected. Most people anticipated that she would let us in on a plan not to seek re-election as governor. The widespread assumption that she intends to campaign for the presidency in 2012 fueled speculation that shed simply complete her first term and then re-take the national stage. Hearing that the governor is not planning on even finishing out her first gubernatorial term has shocked a lot of people. It has also led to a rush to fling dirt on top of her political grave particularly by bloggers who want to be the first to proclaim the governor so over; so 2008.
Hang on, though.
The timing of this announcement is very odd for someone who is trying to execute a strategy to get into the White House in 2013...

What the hell??????
not at all...following priniciples of breaking up fallow ground!
sowing...a vision of HOPE not HYPE!
How insensitive of Palin to interrupt the 24x7 coverage of Michael Jackson’s death!
Just went to Drudge, I have been gone all day and just got hom a little while ago. I am in shock. I hope this means she is going to run for President.
What if Sarah Palin leaves the Republican Partyshalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
and aligns herself with the American Independent PartyToday would be a very signifiant day to seek independence.
A TEA party for Independence from the Vichy Republicans.
I don’t think it’s odd at all, as I will explain with this with an old post:
I think her strategy is outstanding. Making this announcement on the 3rd of July, when all government offices are closed, Obama is on vacation at Camp David, and most media services, which lack in any credibility in fair and balanced reporting are floundering, she will capture all attention for 3 full days with no opposition. While the State Controlled Media will be tripping over each other on speculations, she and her family will have the time of their lives watching the Media Meltdown.
Good! Lets roll!!11!!
WTF? These writers have nothing else better to do than this? I guess not.
Palin likes sports and she knows how to throw a curve ball... LOL...
You said — I hope this means she is going to run for President.

Hard to tell at this point. And even if she was, no one would hear her say it at this point in time, anyway...
A sitting governor and a sitting senator have significantly more access to campaign finance and endorsements, plain and simple. Look at what Obama did.
Resigning was something personal.
I was over on Craigslist earlier, and they were all out of their minds. Scandals, adultery, pregnancy, indictments, embezzlement, all kinds of stuff. I think her timing could not have been better
Did you sign up TODAY just to make that commie comment, TROLL!
I smell a ZOT.
Huh? Please explain your logic, or lack thereof. And while you’re at it, lay down the pipe.
“Im not current on Alaskan politics. Is Sean Parnell truly conservative or is he going to keep Alaska skipping down the socialist path that Palin runs along?”
Hey we have a Zero voter here!!!!!!!!!!!
