Hear that, Arnold? Obama's playing a song just for you... (Hat tip to Al Jolson)
California, here I come
right back where I started from.
Where Bowers of flowers bloom in the spring.
Each morning at dawning, birdies sing an' everything.
A sunkist miss said, "Don't be late"
that's why I can hardly wait.
Open up that Golden Gate,
California here I come.

Talk about moral hazzard... Just give the states carte blanche to spend as much as they want without consequences. Is it any wonder that the voters of California vote overwhelmingly for the Democrats? Let the few remaining Red States share the debts of the union-plagued Californians.

Seems to me Obama stated explicitly that the FedGov would not bail out the states. Another inoperative statement?

Not me. I’m tired of subsidizing liberal failure. Let California and New York go broke. It’s time they got a dose of reality.

I don’t believe it. Obama specifically stated no bailouts for states. If he starts throwing money at failed states there will be a fire storm of protests. He might want to but he just cannot risk it, bailiong out the states is simply a bridge to far. I hope he trys it.

What you good folks fail to realize is WE ARE ALREADY BAILING OUT THE STATES. See link.
It gives you a agency by agency breakdown by dollars allotted and spent. You can download excel files by agency to see which states have taken the money
Recovery.com
Here's a nice interactive map to show you the dollars by state.

I don’t know about a direct bailout a la the banks and automakers, but it has been proposed that the U.S. backstop CA state and muni bonds. That’s the same as pouring money down a rathole, because it just permits the state to keep functioning in arrears rather forcing it into solvency.
It’s the same as guaranteeing the credit card of an alcoholic without a source of income who uses credit to buy booze. In the end, you’re going to get shafted.

Seems to me Obama stated explicitly that the FedGov would not bail out the states. Another inoperative statement? Some reporter or columnist said that all of Obama's statements come with an expiration date. He's right.

As Rush has underlined--Obama's "statements" all have expiration dates. I am less charitable. I do not believe anything he says, for any period of time, unless it is unscripted and menacing. Then and only then do I take him seriously.
