No Medicine For Regret
This vintage public health poster has been restored by us for color, contrast, and clarity. It implores sailors of the time to stay away from “loose” women that could give them venereal disease. Notice the woman standing under the street light, plying her trade, and how anxious the young man is to get over to her. “A Sailor Doesn’t Have to Prove He’s a Man,” the poster says. “Remember, there’s no medicine for regret.”

I presume this was one of the perks the Clintons added, just not sure which one.
“Join the Navy and see the world.” Uh huh.
a definite beer to the word smith honing the title.
well done, my boy
:)
Ah Perth...
Wow! Sailors frequenting a whorehouse? Only been going on for about 10,000 years or so. In Korea, all the units had their favorite clubs, and once in awhile we’d notice 1/3 or more of the girls were missing. Asking the owner, she’d tell us that the fleet was in down South and the Sailors and Marines, not knowing any better, would pay double or triple the going rate ($5 for a short-time, $10 for an overnight circa 1978-82) Capitalism at work.
The more appropriate headline is “Local Prostitutes Clean Up as Brothels Flooded with US Seamen.”
Only five extra staff?
Liberty, liberty
Australia is probably one of the greatest liberty ports for the Navy. There are many beautiful women (who are not hookers) who think the world of Americans.
Then brothel madam Mary-Anne Kenworthy said her staff and workers at other brothels had become exhausted so a new systen to used DING yo time is up.
...she had put on five extra staff for the weekend...
Five mo’ ho’s.
