Sotomayor boasts of her admission to Ivy League schools based on the politics of race and ethnicity, not qualifications or competence. Affirmative action is, of course, an invidious system which discriminates against those who are not in the favored category whether based on race, gender or ethnicity. This is an obvious unconstitutional injustice. But what makes it an astonishingly egregious wrong here is that we are not talking about the hiring of a postal clerk but a justice of the Supreme Court of the United States who rejects the "equal protection" clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as well as an array of civil rights legislation that assures equality of opportunity, NOT outcome. By the way, what's not as much mentioned is that these "affirmative action fakers" are often "pushed through" schools even when they can't cut it academically as students.

So she skated through high school and got into Yale based on her race and some poor white guy who worked his ass off during high school to get a 4.0 GPA and score high on the SAT was rejected and had to go to some less prestigious school.
Where is the "empathy" for the poor slob who's spot she took?

I expect this is the reason Obama won't open his school records-- it would be obvious that he stole some more-qualified applicant's seat thanks to the racialist mau-mauing we are pleased to call "affirmative action."
If I were a well-qualified minority applicant, I would really resent the charity cases whose low standards reflected poorly on me as well.

When I think of Affirmative Action I have to wonder, what cures for diseases or inventions were lost due to the likes of Sotomayor knocking a more qualified person out of their spot?

Gee, I am so happy that Obama is going to nominate this worthless person to serve on the US Supreme Court.
Not only is she a RACIST, but she is STUPID as well.
Wonderful!

I'm sure it's the case. He's made grammatical errors that even I, a high school dropout, wouldn't make.

Obama admitted to spending many of his later years in school drinking and doing drugs.
Hardly the behavior of a Straight A student.
He probably barely made it out of high school, and wound up in the big league universities because the fact that he is half-black.

I am thinking about two separate cases of surgeons who got through school on affirmative action. Both maimed and scarred their patients before they lost their licenses.

Obama admitted to spending many of his later years in school drinking and doing drugs. Yes, and at the age of his drug use his brain had not finished developing.

"Affirmative action was wrong from the first time It was thought of!!!!"IIRC "Affirmative Action" was first used in reference to Vietnam veterans and handicapped persons. (Before handicapped became otherwise "challenged"...).
Equal Opportunity was a different issue and implied a leveled playing field rather than granting of exalted status.
Sadly:
Vietnam vets were not so very popular in the mid seventies,
it takes some effort to accomodate handicapped workers,
and the same people were charged with enforcing AA and EEO...those offices were heavily weighted to female and minority, "progressive", personnel.
The rest is history but the original intent, as written into government contracts, was not what we got.

It’s still 10% wrong!
