Secret U.S. mission hauls uranium from Iraq Last major stockpile from Saddam's nuclear efforts arrives in Canada

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program — a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.
The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" — the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.
What's now left is the final and complicated push to clean up the remaining radioactive debris at the former Tuwaitha nuclear complex about 12 miles south of Baghdad — using teams that include Iraqi experts recently trained in the Chernobyl fallout zone in Ukraine.

This article by Obama’s lap dogs at MSNBC tried to make it seem like just now is Iraq ‘stabilizing’ under Obama. Like now that Obama is in charge these things are being done....yet they admit in another part of the article that this plan has been in place for over a year. This was just about the most ridiculous article I have ever seen in the MSM regarding the Iraq War. It made no sense and was vague so as not to upset the DNC talking points of no WMD!!

This is the rather ancient story of the known stocks of yellowcake that was under IAEA seal prior to Gulf War II.
This stockpile was obtained prior to Gulf War I, was found after Gulf War I, sealed by the IAEA, and regularly inspected.
Yellowcake is not a “WMD” - the only way it could kill you is if someone dropped a bucket of it on your head from a three story building.
This was NOT “discovered” after Gulf War II, was not in violation of any UN or IAEA sanctions or regulations, and was not the reason the Bush administration went to war.

Yep..thanks. I didn’t realize it was an old article. I remember well the crap surrounding the Tuwaitha site and the leftist media attack on the whole thing with the ‘yellowcake’. I still have a bookmark to the military presser that disproved the lies that the media was trying to spread.

I believe the "Bush Lied" campaign was started by the "anti-war" group United for Peace and Justice. UFPJ is a front for Communist Party USA. Their national coordinator, Leslie Cagan, is the founder of Committee of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism. The CCDS is an old offshoot of CPUSA. The co-chair of UFPJ, Judith LeBlanc, is the co-chair of Communist Party USA.

The question is : why did Saddam have a chunk of yellowcake that size? Did he intend to restart his nuclear wmd program at some point ? A number of inspectors and analysts, like Charles Duelfer, did think that.
