Two of the biggest car makers in America, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Co., called a bottom to the long decline in U.S. auto sales as the industry reported its smallest monthly sales drop this year.
New-vehicle sales in June fell 28% from a year earlier to 860,000 cars and light trucks, according to the market-research firm Autodata Corp. That would be the smallest decline in any month this year.

I will be needing to replace my vehicle sometime in the near future.
I will be purchasing either a Ford or a Toyota.
I want to support them for running their businesses the best that they could.
I hope you do the same.
If I had the ca$h, I would trade in my big gas guzzler, for a midsized gas guzzler. The little Ford Edge has caught my eye...pricey though/
I’ll never buy a GM.. I drive a Ford and have just purchased a Toyota Corolla for a second car.

All USA taxpayers “buy” GM and Chrysler every pay period.
Wonder why no Republican can make the obvious point that Joe taxpayer is funding $3200/month pensions and silver plated benefits for 50 yr old UAW members?
Hey, don’t forget the Penske! (ex-saturn)
Excuse me but how does one call the “bottom” of the car sales when the sales number keep declining?
I would assume that you would say “you have hit bottom” after a couple of months of increases ... wouldn’t you?
Can we now expect to see this as a “Standing Headline” every month going forward that “the automakers have call this month the bottom” for car/truck sales?
We’ve had a Toyota Sienna van, two Volvos (station wagon and sedan) and two VW Jettas. All of them big time POS’s with terribly reliability, engine sludge, constantly breaking parts and whopper repair bills.
We currently have two Fords, a ‘95 Explorer with 150k on the clock and a ‘’03 Expedition with 103k. Outstanding vehicles, very reliable and fairly low repair costs. After all the import problems, I’m very happy with our Fords. Hope you are, too.
PS. The Toyota van engine sludged up terribly and constantly blew out blue smoke while drinking oil like gasoline. What a lemon that was.
I have a 2008 Mercury Sable, and I recommend it. I especially like the fact that it has an extra window in the back. Believe it or not, not too many cars have that anymore. It’s also very spacious, and best of all, I’ve had no problems.

I bought a Ford Fusion last month and I love it.
No, I'd say you're a couple of months past the bottom.
I rented a Ford Fusion in May.
I liked it.
My next truck will still be one made in Indiana: Toyota.
I got stopped for speeding already... only got a warning... he didn’t believe me when I said I was in labor...I’m on Medicare.
what about the Escape?
I like the Ford Fusion that you get in Europe too. Though that is a supermini, not a sedan
Still the Saturn brand under Penske, and still built (under contract) by GM...to heck with 'em!

I’m buying Toyota stock. The Lexus is the car-of-choice for liberal politicians. Thousands of those cars will be bought with stimulus money.
I’m not kidding.
