July 2009 sees nearly 6 months since George W Bush entered private life and as we have done in previously monthly threads I have collated photos from the month we are in from previous years.

Tonight I will post July 2001 and July 2002 photos and then over the next few days post 2003 and 2004 photos.

I have also found some photos from this June which I will also post in the next few days starting with one of them as the photo of the month.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Thank you I am indeed thankful at long last to feel much better and also relieved the computer problem was just a power supply, solidarity lesson to switch the machine off when not using it.

How true the photos showed genuine love and service not what we see today from the White House.

<remember when the US had a President rather than a cardboard cut out

Earlier this summer, I went to a conference in DC. They had cut outs of Obama and Hillary so you could take your picture with them. It was hard for me not to retch in public.

GEORGE W BUSH STILL AN EARLY BIRD
July 29, 2009 04:32 PM ET
By Paul Bedard, Washington Whispers

Retirement hasn’t had any impact on former President George W. Bush’s internal clock. Just as when he was in Washington, associates say he rises early and gets to his Dallas office virtually every day at 7 a.m. And he stays until midafternoon. What’s there to do for eight hours? He splits his time working on his White House memoir, raising money for his presidential library and museum, and drafting those highly paid speeches that pay the rent.

Ladies (and gents) I’d like to hijack the thread for a minute and ask those who are so inclined to pray for my classmate who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

It seems that it was caught in time; she’s had surgery and radiation, but won’t need the chemo. She’s the nicest person you ever want to meet and it’s a shame this has happened.

While you’re at it, could you please pray for her to think of herself just a little. As professors, our work life is a little different than other jobs. We don’t have to do something just because someone one asks us, but my friend just says yes to everything, which has meant a lot of travel and late nights and which I think has put a lot of pressure on her and affected her health. In addition, she almost lost her mother to a terrible car accident and has spent the last year crisscrossing the country to be with her during her recovery. I think my friend may compromise her own recovery if she doesn’t learn to put herself first.

Thanks, radiohead
