Wattsburg, Pa. Vice President Joe Biden visited a small town on the outskirts of Erie today to talk to rural folks about federal stimulus money that can be used to expand broadband access to the Internet for rural areas that typically have poor connections.
Apparently stimulus money and broadband are not all that interesting to the local folk here: Only around 100 or so people have showed up so far to hear Biden talk at noon at Seneca High School off Route 8 in Wattsburg.
The room looked so sparse that about 30 or so chairs were removed by volunteers to give the illusion of a full house.
The effect didn't exactly work.

Well that is a shame.
Whoa! That’s Erie!
And this moron is FROM Pennsylvania, isn’t he?
And Sarah can draw how many?
Wow. If I had known Biden was going to be in Erie today I would have gone just for the laughs.
Why doesn’t the brain-dead VP talk about tax cuts and easing regulations so private companies can set up broadband access to rural areas instead of taxpayers paying for it? Democrats are so predictable with this crap. Same thing during the winter: They offer millions of dollars in heating assistance for the poor rather than increasing energy supply.
Tens of thousands at the drop of a hat.
‘And Sarah can draw how many?’
YES! I was thinking the same thing. If Plugs wants a big crowd in the future, he should just call Sarah. She could promise to sit in a chair and nap the whole time and still draw 20k.
WOW!!!
That’s amazing! When only 100 people show up to see the VICE PRESIDENT of THE UNITED STATES, that’s a terrible sign, no matter where the event is!! The Vice President should be able to draw a crowd of 100 out in the desert.
Biden is only of interest to those who want to see the next verbal slapstick foot-in-mouth incident. After a while it isn’t funny anymore.
ANyway we can get his schedule and have a tea party for them.
I suppose in Obama's world "rural folks" never heard of a satellite dish.
‘Well that is a shame.’
I think our illegitimate President wants it that way. Fewer people in the crowd means that fewer people hear The Sheriff when he gaffes. If Biden says something really stupid and no one is in the room, does he still make a sound?
I've been through that area, the locals who showed up probably thought an auction was in progress.
Well, at least he’s from a coal mining family.
What’s the number of that web site? Stand up and tell us, Joe!
Obamination/Biden’s idea of broadband is to spend $7.2 billion to give rural access all of 768kbps down/200kbps up.
I’ve been watching this because I’m rural and have three choices — 1) dialup, 2) Satellite (AAAAAGH!! Been there done that!), and 3) Wireless. Right now we’re with Alltel wireless 3G which doesn’t have a cap, but once our contract is up we’ll be forced into a Verizon 5G cap.
Sooner or later the battle lines are going to be drawn. On one side will be ISPs and their drive for huge profits and lids on the pipes. The other side will consist of Google, Hulu, Netflix, and all those content providers who can’t wait to sell you bandwith-eating entertainment services.
The intelligent wish not to bide their precious time with Biden and the sheeple get their jollies elsewhere besides attending old buffoonish white guy speeches! Yawn!! There’s plenty of those they can see on the TV inbetween Michael Jackson coverage.
