Cap & Trade Dementia
The American Spectator ^ | July 1, 2009 | Peter Ferrara

Posted on 07/01/2009 2:40:04 PM PDT by pleikumud

Barack Obama called for House passage of the cap and trade tax bill last Friday by calling it a jobs bill. The bill is designed to raise the price of energy in the U.S. so much that it will reduce the use of fossil fuels by 17% by 2020 and by 83% by 2050. Sentencing the U.S. economy to high cost energy is not a particularly good strategy for creating jobs. The Charles River Associates, a Harvard based economics consulting firm, estimates a net loss of jobs from the bill of about 2.5 million each year. This is surely a gross underestimate of the net job losses from a bill designed to reduce the use of fossil fuels to the level in 1907.

Obama and his Socialist Congress must be insane. The cap & trade legislation is not only based on junk "science", it will kill millions of jobs. If Obama and the Congressional Socialists are not insane, then they are deliberately trying to wreck capitalism, freedom, and the United States of America, with the goal of recreating the USSR here in the USA.

then they are deliberately trying to wreck capitalism, freedom, and the United States of America, with the goal of recreating the USSR here in the USA.

They don't care about capitalism one way or another.

The Waxman-Markey bill is a comprehensive structure of tyranny, designed to assert Federal control over the most minute details of our personal affairs and private property.

If capitalists will help them do it (capitalism is amoral), then they will survive. If they resist, they will be crushed.

Waxman-Markey asserts the power to "bind us in all cases whatsoever", and "if being bound in that manner is not slavery then there is not such a thing as slavery on earth".

It's misdirection to regard this as a tax issue, or a jobs issue, or an energy issue.

This is an attempt to strangle Liberty in her cradle and to substitute a despotism foreign to our people and our institutions.

"O ye that love mankind! Ye that dare oppose, not only the tyranny, but the tyrant, stand forth! Every spot of the old world is overrun with oppression. Freedom hath been hunted round the globe. Asia, and Africa, have long expelled her.—Europe regards her like a stranger, and England hath given her warning to depart. O! receive the fugitive, and prepare in time an asylum for mankind."

Oh, it’s a “jobs bill” all right. It will be a “job” to try to figure out how to pay your bills!

BINGO! Our only hope is that the Blue Dogs see it and stop it. Byrd and others are griping about the executuive branch seizing too much power. We can only hope that the boy king wannabe pisses them off enough to make them rebel against him. If that happens, the RINOS will step in to help pick up the votes they didn’t get from the Dems. There is no 60 vote majority. You have to count Snowe and Collins as always voting with them, so they really have 62.

Obama is a Chicago thug idiot. He is arrogant beyond belief. He is socialist and will redistribute what is ours. His downfall is assured as is his total failure.

Hopefully, folks will get a chance to see the GE commercial for the construction of railroad engines. Guys on backhoes singing ‘Take My Breath Away.’ It’s surreal.

It’s also one way to ensure the eugenicare plan works, judging by the words.....

This is the craziest, most destructive legislation in human history.

The only conclusion I can draw is that Obama and crew seek to reduce the US to permanent impoverishment.

“...they are deliberately trying to wreck capitalism, freedom, and the United States of America, with the goal of recreating the USSR here in the USA. .”

This is exactly what they are doing. Something else to think about — they clearly are not worries about running for re-election. Be ready.
