89’s = 80’s
I think the “’89s” has a nice ring to it.
Alexis Arguello was a Contra.
The speed, those hooded shoulders, that tall thin frame. One of my all time favorites. Prayers offered .
I will never forget shaking his hand, His fist was solid as a Brick. A true professional, I'm sorry to hear this news.
“...card carrying Sandinista, former vice-mayor of Managua, Alexis Argüello...”
“...Mr. Montealegre is a candidate in the November 2nd election for Mayor of Nicaraguas capital city of Managua. His main challenger in the upcoming election is card carrying Sandinista, former vice-mayor of Managua, Alexis Argüello, Nicaraguas three-time world boxing champion...”
RIP.
Thanks for posting.
I had no idea Arguello was a Sandinista!
The greatest fighter I’ve ever seen. Maybe the greatest ever. The man was a machine. RIP.
