Lawyers Want Baldwin As Ohio Governor
http://www.imdb.com/news ^

Posted on 07/01/2009 5:18:21 AM PDT by LottieDah

Movie star Alec Baldwin has been given the opportunity to launch his political career in Ohio by a local law firm keen to back a bid to make him the state's next Governor.

The Cooler star has often spoken about his political aspirations and now he has gone public with his plans to retire from acting in 2012, a group of leading Ohio businessmen want him to consider running for office there.

He tells Playboy magazine, "A law firm in a liberal Democratic bastion in Ohio state politics sent me a binder with a cover letter that read: "Mr. Baldwin, here's who we represent, the kinds of cases we handle, our credentials in Ohio state politics. We want you to move to Ohio and run for Governor. We will launch your career.'"

And Baldwin admits he has been tempted by the offer to join the ranks of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura and become a celebrity Governor - or simply run for political office elsewhere.

He adds, "The desire is there."

Anybody see a pattern here? The root of the problem is liberal lawyers. If liberal lawyers bud out maybe REAL changes will occur.

Being Governor is just too hard. Alec (once he returns from France where he promised to reside during the Bush adminstration) needs to become a US Senator so he can sit next to Al Franken and form a Senatorial Comedian Caucus.

Who knows maybe those two hot-headed clowns will get into a shoving match or release a string of their favorite epitaths on CSPAN-2.

Great. Then maybe we can get Stuart Smalley to transfer from MN and be our senator too.

Lottie, I live in Ohio and work for a law firm. I do not see on the link where Alec Baldwin is mentioned. Does it name the law firm? I know it’s not the law firm with whom I work.

It doesn’t mention the law firm in my link above.

I would really love to know which law firm, but Alec isn’t saying.

I bet it’s a firm out of Columbus.

I think it’s hilarious that these Hollywood liberals can put on a pair of Ashley Banfield specs and suddenly they are political material.

I wish Baldwin would run. Assuming (and this might be a big presumption) the Repubs in Ohio have some stones, can you just hear the commercials against this pretentious idiot?

Playing Alec’s most famous quote over and over and over:

“YOU ARE A THOUGHTLESS LITTLE PIG! YOU ARE A THOUGHTLESS LITTLE PIG! YOU ARE A THOUGHTLESS...!!!”

I’m sure Kim Basinger could provide even more interesting material. And would want to.

Just run that phone call recording over and over. That will take care of Mr. Baldwin.

I read somewhere that when Baldwin was in college he ran for student government and lost and demanded a recount. That is why he was so pissy over the Bush victory over Gore in 2000. Baldwin is a pompous ass.

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOO! Well, I have often contemplated moving to Austin, Texas. I guess it is time to flee my beloved Buckeye state. What happened, Ohio? We were so good together, now, I don’t even recognize you.

Well, I have often contemplated moving to Austin, Texas

Austin IS the San Francisco of Texas. Nothing but socialists live there.

That's why I live just outside Austin :-}

Isn’t there something illegal in this?

If not, there darn well should be!

“I wish Baldwin would run. Assuming (and this might be a big presumption) the Repubs in Ohio have some stones,”

The Republican party in Ohio is a joke. Especially in Franklin county(Columbus). Democrats and Republicans are one in the same here. They collude and finance the campaigns of those who will do the bidding of the “elite”. Political affiliation is nothing more than a costume here. I’m sick of it. Off to Texas!
