COLUMBIA, S.C. -- COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford declared his Argentine mistress his soul mate Tuesday but said he is committed to reconciling with his wife in hopes of saving his family and what is left of his political career.
Sanford, who also admitted meeting his lover more times than he had previously claimed, told The Associated Press in emotional interviews that he "crossed lines" with a handful of other women during 20 years of marriage.
But he said he never went as far as he did with Maria Belen Chapur, the woman at the center of the scandal that has derailed his once-promising political future.

Note to all freepers: Never fall in love with a politician (ideologically or otherwise).
When the news about his disappearance first broke, I knew right away that he is not ready for prime time. Even the best scenario (he just went off and allowed the story to emerge), would have shown his lack of media skills. Still, a lot of freepers defended him (”no big deal if governor takes off and disappears..who cares”). People can be blind to Messiah’s problems and allow this sort of weirdo to get the nomination.
Never worship any politician.
The guy is a delusional creep and needs to step down.
More like “An Officer and a Gentleman”, when the guy drops out of Flight School, only to realize that the only reason his girlfriend was with him was because she expected to marry a “Navy Aviator.”
Exactly what I was thinking. As soon as he is free, he will discover that she has several ‘soul-mates’ he is in competition with. The thrill being gone for her, does he really think she will want to hang around with a washed-up politician that can’t show his face in public? A guy that owes a ton in child support and alimony? Boy, is he dumb.

He really should STFU.
Sanford’s life is the equivalent of a hyper man working madly to break through a door to reach another room only to find the new room smaller and lesser.
As he keeps breaking through doors into smaller rooms he will discover the cramp-mental-atmosphere of hell.

I can't imagine my husband saying that his mistress is his soul mate but, will you take me back? Oh brother!
Then he needs to MAN UP, resign, and go be with this soulmate, and stop humiliating his wife and kids. imagine those poor boys having to see their father make a horses @$$ out of himself on a daily basis. he should be locked in a windowless room with those 4 kids and have them vent their feelings to him. make him face what his idiocy has wrought on his boys.
