Sanford’s life is the equivalent of a hyper man working madly to break through a door to reach another room only to find the new room smaller and lesser.
As he keeps breaking through doors into smaller rooms he will discover the cramp-mental-atmosphere of hell.
I think he is the guy standing in front of the park bench yelling.
