In January, I was asked to join Examiner. The process was more involved than any other online publisher had ever put me through. I like the features, the look of the banner and, well, there’s a lot to like about Examiner.
There are three reasons I accepted. 1) Examiner is a mainstream press with millions of readers per month. 2) It is the only mainstream press at this time to have a full-time lineup of nationally known second amendment experts, and; 3) I write to non-gun owners almost exclusively.
Six years ago, I decided that there were tons of second amendment writers and tons of second amendment readers. Any new entrant to the field would only be preaching to the choir, and I knew it on Day One. My overall message was more about liberty and independence in America, and I would write about threats to the security of the Family wherever I noticed them. I sided with the American Family because the family is the stronghold of resistance to adversity, all adversity in this country. Small wonder it is always under attack.
Naturally, when I was contacted and invited to join Examiner, I said Yes. With hundreds of liberty articles in syndication, I knew I had really arrived at Examiner.com It was time now to reach in a single source those looking for sanctuary from bigger government.
A lot of how America will get out from bigger government — a powerful topic now which unites gun owners with non-gun owners by the tens of millions — is related to our second amendment authority over that government.
With this powerful platform, can we regain our independence from our very own servants?
Yes, we can. The mission is simple: educate the electorate how the second amendment is key to Independence from our servants, which we are losing now with every new mandate. And the hits just keep on coming.
The second amendment is powerful for one reason, which may begin a deeper understanding of how it is connected to our sovereignty. It is this: the kind of person likely to be independent and prefer to be on their own as a matter of personal dignity and accountability will be likely to own a gun on the realization that he/she is now and always will be on their own no matter what the State promises and takes away. This is what Americans are coming to realize: no matter what the State pledges and no matter what it takes away, you are now and always will be on your own anyway. This is the boondoggle of Statism.
If we examine this from both ends (sort of check our work, you might say) you see its confirmation in truth. Gun owners are likely to see very early signs of threats to our overall sovereignty first, because any first indicators of statism to come will affect gun ownership first. More and more non-gun owners are becoming gun owners as they have experienced the dreadful increase in government for themselves, and I hasten to say as predicted by gun owners.
But how many others will listen and relate gun rights today to the overall rights of our kids? I figure, in a non-scientific way, about two out of three. I believe that we can educate the electorate on liberty issues and reach about 66% of the adult voters and know that one out of three we will never reach. This not due to new media coverage, it is due to their world view of things. We simply will not educate any more than two out of three.
We know roughly how many Americans feel the outrage of bigger government – tens of millions. the idea that they feel any outrage at all is the best indicator of who will look forward to the ascendancy of the State and who fears it.
We note that tens of millions are starting to perceive social and political danger as evidenced by the sales of millions more guns. [Not anticipating any eventual showdown with troops, but changes in law enforcement, administration of justice, funding, asset response time and more.]
And we know that liberals – genuine leftists – are in the minority, when recent Pew Studies show who identifies with what values when asked about values and not party affiliation.
It’s starting to look good, but the remainder of the work involves not only in going viral with our GRE Examiner content to reach mainstream, but the electorate’s follow-through as well.

Ask them if they like the way things are going.
If not (usually the case, once you get a beer or two into someone), then suggest "throw the rascals out."
Get them to pledge to vote for the *challenger* in the upcoming 2010 Congressional races.
Since only 50% of the population votes, the winner actually receives votes from 25% of the election. So a three or four point swing in the number of participating voters would be *huge*.
And since both the House and Senate are currently controlled by Dems, and Dems don't challenge their own incumbents --
"voting the rascals out" would guarantee GOP control of the House, and put the fear of God into the 98%-recidivism re-elected Senators.

I Wonder? I believe that individual states are going to have to step to the plate before the people are going to be willing to join in, and democrats in general, are not going to be of assistance. How’s that for a sweeping generality.
Election statistics from years past, all the way back to the 1940’s, indicate there is a huge pot, of non voters until they are somehow motivated. It amounts to much more than ten million, at least in Presidential elections.
