CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Developing news surrounding embattled politician Jimmy Dimora.
County Commissioner Dimora called an afternoon news conference to urge the feds to launch an investigation into the feds!
Dimora maintains his innocence and says he will not resign. He claims he has done nothing different than other elected officials. When questioned about any wrongdoing, Dimora responded, "I'm no angel but I'm no crook."
The leader of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party announced he was stepping down last week. Commissioner Dimora - a key player in a sweeping federal corruption probe - announced he's taking a leave of absence from his role as Democratic Party Chairman. It is unlikely he will relinquish his County Commissioner seat.
He ratted/sang like a bird from the city level to the office of the President! Stemming from the FBI investigation that started over a year ago.

Part of his rant included Republicans plotting against him and interfering with the ‘get out the vote efforts’ of the election 2008.

He even attacked the Cleveland Plain Dealer during the rant and then after during the Q&A. I might just buy a PD in the morning to see how they write this up. Told’em to call an investigative reporter off unemployment and pull the reports. LOL.

CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora accused the U.S. Department of Justice of launching its local public corruption probe two years ago in a conspiracy with Republicans to undermine Democratic candidates including Barack Obama.
Dimora said he and his lawyers will ask for a federal investigation into the motives behind the corruption probe, which became public last July when FBI agents raided the commissioner’s home and office and the home and office of political ally Frank Russo, the county auditor.
“This is a Republican-driven prosecution,” Dimora said during a news conference from the county office building.
His remarks come weeks after federal prosecutors released documents that make it clear that prosecutors believe Dimora and Russo are at the center of a pay-to-play political system that involves millions of dollars in public contracts.
Prosecutors did not name Dimora or Russo, neither of whom have been charged with a crime, but two people identified in the documents as Public Official 1 and Public Official 2 are so clearly defined that they cannot be anyone else.
And those documents say the commissioner and auditor repeatedly enriched and entertained themselves with cash from businesses that received the lucrative contracts.
During long and rambling remarks, Dimora denied any wrong doing and said he had no knowledge of illegal activities by other county officials.
He said the courrption investigation was driven by Republican concerns about the 2008 presidential election and aimed to damage Democratic credibility.
Dimora also accused The Plain Dealer of being a party to the conspiracy.

Two thoughts were that he was singing like a bird and they other thought...was if he pulls this off fascism has truly arrived in Cuyahoga County.
In other words question an election, question the ACORN registrations, etc. and YOU will be investigated. I said in the election mess of 2006 we were the testing grounds and look what happened nationwide for 2008 elections.
Now I say watch what happens here. He is looking to prosecute the Republicans, Rob Frost, Ken Blackwell. I mean the guy was just naming name after name and incident after incident.
It was incredible and embarrassing.
My sister worked on his campaign - yes, we are a politically divided family. I’ll have to see what she has to say about all of this.
I watched that. Dimora is a big old fat corrupt slob.

My wife and I were watching this rant last night on the local news.
As he started into it, we both looked at each other and said “it’s all Bush’s fault”.
A few seconds later, that’s exactly what came out of Jabba Dimora’s mouth.
Later in the broadcast, it was revealed that Dennis Kucinich’s office had “nothing to say” on the matter.
So much for party unity.
I think the funniest line from his rant was that he’s never seen any corruption in Cuyahoga County. Surely he must have a diabetic condition that has caused blindness.
On the one hand, he could just be trying the usual diversionary tactics while also getting out in from of upcoming revelation.
On the other hand, he may already know he isn't going down (it's a fed investigation, so the fed can stop it just like they did for those black Muslims at the polling places in Philly). In that case, the “blame the republicans” might be a down payment on political payback for his pardon.
