Still, even his explanations tend to end with a question mark, like this one earlier this year: I see absolutely no reason for Texas to leave. But if Washington continues to disregard the states and continues to try to force states to change the way that they govern, who knows what may happen?

That's why God blessed Texas with abundant natural gas and oil - for air conditioning!
No, it will not become Azatlan—most Mexican do not what a corrupt Mexico in the USA. They fought hard to get out of that sad, feudalistic oligarchy that is Mexico. Many Mexicans are patriots—like those who fought with the Texicans in the Alamo against Santa Anna. Many would support secession. Time to break out the Bonnie Blue Flag. Maybe Texas could be the core around a new southwestern nation? At least the fear of secession and Civil War II might put the breaks on rampant change.
But they know they can't!
And here we always thought of the climate as a sort "damnYankee Filter;" it keeps out the whiners and complainers.
Our military would do quite nicely if staffed only with Texans currently in the military.
Keep in mind we wouldn't find it necessary to post Texans in for example Kosovo.
And as for a diplomatic corps? Big savings opportunity by not having anything to do with the UN!
We could make Rep. Sam Johnson our Secretary of State.
And finally: Keep in mind that we in Texas wouldn't feel it necessary to duplicate every idiotic government bureau found in Washington - in fact, that's sorta THE POINT of this secession talk, you see.
You like that idea of laying all the blame for the idiocies of the LBJ administration at the feet of current Texans? You choose that screen name, or was it assigned to you?
Precisely, but Nonsensequir will never see this.
Well, yes.
It's what you're famous for.

Although, not born in Texas, your "state of mind" being absolutely has applied in my life for as long as I have memory.
Moved here from South Dakota, where it is absolutely as blunt if not more descriptive in its bluntness.
Knew I fit in down here upon my first visit. I rub shoulders with like minded individuals and don't have to endure the cold!
The day will come when such like minded individuals will band together and send the others packing, one way or the other! Might be as I won't be around to see it, but should we continue down the path our Feds are currently taking, I just might get to enjoy seeing it come about!
IIRC, the 8 or 9 largest economy in the world.
I think we’ll get by.
Thank you, sir!
The Texas "state of mind" you describe, has and continues to fit me to a "T". Born and raised in a Southern Military family, 10 years active service myself, and recently moved from South Dakota, where the "state of mind", if possible is even more blunt concerning alternatives, I knew I fit right in when we retired here.
The day will come, and IMO, not too long from now as the Fed continues to usurp individual and States rights that all of us in that "state of mind" will be showing those who are not a very easy way out. One choice - LEAVE;, as you won't want to contemplate the alternative.
Thank you again!
“Thanks but I think I’m going to stick around and try and take the whole country back.”
If that doesn’t work out for ya, you’re damn sure welcome here.
BTW: If your boss was a real Texan, he wouldn’t have left.
Throw in currency and national defense. You are right but it is fun to think about and maybe even plan for. Any problem can be overcome given the desire. Will the desire exceed conversation ... ?

I'm thinking it's you that want it all. You want to walk away from all obligations, repudiate a share for all debt (after having done your share to run up the debt in the first place), take every bit of community property you can get your hands on, and then give the "Who, me?" look when someone questions your intentions.
It the people of Texas really, truly want to leave then I'll be the first to wish them well and offer them a sincere goodbye. But don't go shafting the rest of us and expecting us to sit back and take it.
“Nor is it a club to beat the rest of us with on your way out the door.”
Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William Travis. 3 of nearly 200 men and women who fought and died at the Alamo during the Texas revolution.
These men were not Texans but, thought Texas was important enough to give their lives for.
If there’s ever another *revolution* here, I hope other brave souls from other states/countries will be willing to take up arms and fight for freedom.
If you ever get a chance, come to San Antonio and visit the Alamo. You will be inspired.
The Feds say it’s their job and if we interfer, we’ll get called *vigilantes* We’d also likely be breaking some sort of federal law(s).
We definitely have enough fire power and troops to take care of the border.
Well then since you asserted the spending to be unconstitutional then I anxiously await your proof.
No, it makes more sense to get out from in front of the disaster that's rushing toward you, THEN worry about the particulars.
Then were is the incentive to resolve any area of disagreement? If you've walked away from the debt and the obligations and the responsibility and taken every piece of community property you could get your paws on then where does that leave the rest of us?
Generous of you, but your neither your calculations nor your generosity constitute constitutional authority. I'd prefer not to rely on your opinion alone.
See above.
The federal government has no more authority to force a State to stay in the union because they feel 'owed' any more than YOU would have the authority to make me stay somewhere because YOU felt I 'owed' you something.
Ah yes, I keep forgetting. You're the one who says Congress has no authority outside D.C. aren't you?
