Pelosi Won't Give Public a Week to Review Text of Health-Care Bill Before House Votes on It

Pelosi Won't Give Public a Week to Review Text of Health-Care Bill Before House Votes on It

SNIPPET: "At her press briefing on Thursday, Pelosi was asked whether the health-care bill would be handled differently than the stimulus bill, which came up in February. The 1,071-page final text of that bill was posted on the House Appropriations Committee’s Web site late on a Thursday night and then voted on the next day.

“When the stimulus bill came out earlier this year, members and citizens had less than two days to review the final version that came out of the conference committee before it was voted on,” CNSNews.com asked Pelosi on Thursday. “Will you commit to giving Americans at least a week to review the full conference version of the health care bill before it is voted on? And also will you commit to submitting the final version to the CBO [Congressional Budget Office] so that they can report the cost to the public?”

Pelosi would not commit to giving the public a week to review the bill, and did not respond to the question of having the CBO report on the cost of the final bill."

I don't hear a thing, either. Either the Republicans are strategizing or they don't have a clue as to what to do. If the citizenry is not willing to go down without a fight, what is THEIR excuse? We are willing, but WE NEED LEADERS!

In all seriousness, and I hesitate to use this phrase, there should be a law that requires bills to have 15-30 days for public / representative / senator review before they are allowed to come to vote. This whole “write a 1200 page bill, vote the next day..rush rush rush” farcical comedy needs to end.

Concur. This is well beyond unreasonable.

I like your idea.

We all should be getting in ‘survival mode’ anyway. This would be good practice.

Either the Republicans are strategizing or they don't have a clue as to what to do.

Judging from how most of the Rs have acted over the past 8 years, I'd say they haven't a clue.

Rush it through so no one knows what they are voting for.

They are so TRANSPARENT in their devious ways.

Considering what is at stake, this should cause a revolt all by itself, in a rational country.

Add this to the Cap ‘n Tax nightmare (which was voted on UNFINISHED!) and we should be running these a-holes out of town.

THEY ARE STEALING YOUR COUNTRY, FREEPERS! It’s happening right this very minute.

CAN WE ORGANIZE SOMETHING MORE THAN THE SOFT-’N-FUZZY ‘TEA PARTIES’?

If they get Cap ‘n Tax and Nationalized Health Care IT WON’T MATTER WHO GETS ELECTED IN 2010!!!!

EVERY fundamental you hold dear about the United States of America will be erased, or weakened/mutated beyond recognition.

What do Americans need to see to feel threatened?

Am I missing something? Is there something about humans I’m not getting?

If everyone were like me, we’d be in the streets, in their frickin’ faces, demanding they cease and decist, or face full-fledged insurrection! Total refusal to be their slaves!

I’m working my *ss off to raise awareness and, most of the time, folks don’t even know what I’m talking about! They don’t even know what cap ‘n trade is, let alone that it will shift the paradigm away from freedom!

I wasn’t born to serve these ‘kind-hearted’ a-holes!

I don’t care about their idea of ‘community’—I’m an individual, I’m not a ‘society’, a group, meat!

Believe me when I say: you will not hear me beg Americans to fight if they get these things accomplished—BECAUSE IT WON’T F***ING MATTER THEN!

Let’s fight them NOW!

Why did millions of our ancestors suffer and/or die fighting to obtain/preserve/protect FREEDOM/The USA?

Have we, 50-60 years after the greatest generation, become the generation of lazy, fat, cowards!

You will get what you deserve. It is up to you to determine what will be the outcome.

You alone will live with the fact that you acted against these power mongers, or suffer the regret of doing nothing.

But that suffering is still much less than what your children and descendants will suffer.

If nothing else, the OPPORTUNITY COST of this monumental mistake should make you shiver and shake!

Years from now, how will you explain to young people what America once was?

Perhaps not, but the obamessiah will! He will save us from this evil woman.

He promised during the campaign that he would post EVERY piece of legislation that crosses his desk on the White House web-site and allow plenty of time for the public to comment on it BEFORE he signs it into law. He also promised to take those comments into account when deciding whether to sign said bills.

After all, he's done such an EXCELLENT job keeping his other campaign promises I just KNOW he'll follow this one to the letter! I'm just so full of hope and change! I KNOW the world will soon be a better, happier place now that Big Brother, I mean the obamessiah, is in charge!

I LOVE Big Brother... I mean, the obamessiah!

Term limits are automatic if the voters VOTE the a$$holes out of office.

Too many people have the “My guy’s okay, yours is a butt-head” attitude; so We the People keep sending the same idiots up there year after year. The awful condition of Congress is entirely the fault of the American people.

And if We the People won’t even VOTE them out of office (which takes no more effort than driving/walking to the polls and pulling a lever/pushing a button), then how can we be expected to get a constitutional convention organized?

The problem with that thinking is incumbents have a distinct advantage. They can send out all kinds of vote for me propaganda, on our dime. They can also make back room deals, and brink home PORK, for votes. That is why it needs to be forced upon them.

You didn’t anwers this question:

“... if We the People won’t even VOTE them out of office (which takes no more effort than driving/walking to the polls and pulling a lever/pushing a button), then how can we be expected to get a constitutional convention organized?”

In most polls, more than 3/4 respond that term limits are favored. Most in America do not vote. What is the most common response? My vote does not count. Why? They are gonna get reelected anyways.
Most when given an effort to institute real change, take a much greater interest. It took the ERA a while to get its momentum. It will take time, but these bozo’s keep giving us the reason, to make the more concentrated effort. Like a waterfall it starts with a single drop of water.

As per the Constitution, Congress makes their own governing rules. No laws are involved so no law is broken when they violate the purpose and traditions of the House of Representatives.

Our Constitution requires a moral people. Rats have none and do what it takes to achieve their goals. That is why conservatives will always be at a tactical disadvantage.

The leaders in DC are out of control.

We are not serfs.

There is either a 1776 or a Honduran solution in our near future.

As an American, I never, ever thought I would come to that conclusion.

Evidently the results of the Elections that were held in 2006 and on November 4, 2008 convinced them differently. What have we done since then to refute that? You can bet the farm that the eightRepublicans that voted along with the Democrats to destroy the industrail base of the United States have no fear of being re-elected. Why do they feel that way?

Apparently there is a lot of ‘no spending’ going on right now. I heard yesterday that personal and business saving was on the increase at about the same rate that the Porkulus money is being released on to the street. So if you are one of the lucky few to be receiving ‘free’ gubmint money, you are probably putting most of it into a savings account or a business CD. In either case, it is not being spent.

” Personally, I feel so helpless.

Am I alone?”

No, not at all. But the MSM only grants recognition to one political faction. If you are a liberal democrat reading/watching MSM you feel as part of a community and that there are many sharing your viewpoint.

They leave conservatives out of their orbit deliberately to make us feel isolated and alone. This is one reason conservative talk radio and Free Republic are popular- you can comfortably be part of a community.

If we all suddenly felt that we were a majority, felt powerful, we’d go out and change things.

“Transparency” is a lie.

Democrats complained and said that Boosh pushed through his agenda (like his judicial nominees?) without building consensus.

These crooks won’t even let the public OR LEGISLATORS read what is being voted on.

Our nation is being driven to Hell on the Socialism express.
