Monica Conyers, the wife of the powerful chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., pleaded guilty to one count of bribery in a federal court in Detroit, this morning.
According to court documents, in late 2007, Mrs. Conyers, president pro tem of the Detroit City Council, twice accepted envelopes filled with cash, once in the parking lot of a Detroit McDonalds.
Mrs. Conyers faces up to 5 year in prison, three years supervised release and/or a $250,000 fine. Calls to an attorney for Mrs. Conyers were not immediately returned.
Jackson was working as a consultant for Synagro which won the $1.2 Billion contract to remove sludge from the city's water treatment plants. The contract was awarded in 2007.

It explains why Conyers dropped his interest in investigating ACORN!
Obama will pardon her worthless a$$. Mark my word.
the wife of the powerful chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
What more is there to say?
My prediction: Suspended jail term and a $10,000 fine.
Yes, bur *CRAP* don’t stink ... he still smells like a rose!
Unless there is another indictment coming down the pike!
Sounds like my state of MA.
A lot of this stuff has been going on around here lately....well some have been getting caught lately at least.
Speaker of the house, state senator, city councilman etc etc...
In other news, how about Conyers! Granted she only ‘Pleads’ to one count (Out of hundreds I'm sure exist) that carries between 3-5 Years in the Pokey but this is a start. Now, let's dig into the Pension Board shenanigans. I'm sure that's good for another 5-10 years.
Of course this is all predicated upon the Authorities not bending over backwards to show ‘Leniency’ in light of her ridiculous marriage to the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Now that is quite a joke isn't it?
And;
OMG! I just heard on TV that Conyers could:
1) Actually get off with no jail time and no fine and;
2) Could actually be RE-ELECTED to her Seat. Apparently the Ballots for the next Election (Aug) have already been printed and she will appear on it. To boot, the requirements to sit on the Council are that she be a US Citizen and a resident of Detroit - i.e., Nothing about any type of conviction, etc.
Would not not surprised if both 1 and 2 actually come to pass!
She should get 10 years hard labor.
Seems to me that John Conyers is in a good position to get rid of his wife if he so desires.
Keep her at arms length or “not with an 18 foot pole” length.
Ah, but we forgot the pre-nup! She gets most of it and he gets to stay in Congress.
No, that’s not right, is it? /sarc
You’d best believe that her husband knew about it, and let it go on.
Illinois had Blago.
New York had Spitzer.
And in California the Los Angeles Mayor had an affair.
John Conyers might have know something. He should be investigated to see if he had known or helped in any way. He could even be charged with covering up evidence if he was involved and who knows probably was.
Black President, Black Attorney General, Black Congressional Caucus, Black Congressman’s wife, wife is Black Council Member in Obama stronghold - black DETROIT, heavy black union membership town receiving BILLIONS in white taxpayer’s “stimulus” money....
The bitch will walk with barely a wrist slap and NO jail time.
America is coming under the rule of a mixture of tribal African and Chicago “rules”....... Corruption, Thugocracy and Communist thinking -— all of which will have to be dismantled by the gun rather than the vote, since the vote is already invalidated by illegals voting, ACORN vote fraud and no I.D. required to vote.....
It’s alright she had a right to do it. You know, because of slavery.
Funny how the term “Culture of Corruption” isn’t used when it’s Democrats who get caught.
It was just reparations she was accepting in the parking lot.
She’s black and John Conyers wife. Probation. That’s all she’ll get. Maybe not even have to resign her council seat. What a sham.
wtf is “Jackson?”
And all democrats.
