Obama Says We Shouldn't Treat Old Folks to Save Money And the Media Goes Deaf
News Busters ^ | June 26, 2009 | Warner Todd Huston

I am wondering when the euthanasia folks are going to start touting this one? I mean, it sure seemed to me as if the most caring, most civil, most intelligent president evah just said that healthcare could be cheaper if we don't give old folks and the infirm the full measure of care they now get. It appeared that Obama said we should just let them die or suffer because they aren't worth the effort. Imagine if Bush had said something like this? The left wouldn't have hesitated to call him any manner of names. Oddly, though, the Old Media have not had so much as a raised eyebrow over his statements on Wednesday.

What's the creep going to do when baby boomers quit paying taxes. Quite a dilemma huh?

You forgot to mention that it would all be served up with the legendary humanitarianism of the IRS.

I seem to recall those democrat campaign ads claiming that Republicans were going to push grandma down the stairs.

Not treating old folks may be part of 0bammy’s plan to cut Social Security spending.

“The fiscal responsibility of the Pentagon who brought us $500 hammers and $1,000 toilet seats”

Now to be fair, that wasn’t the Pentagon. It was various congress critters placing earmarks into the Pentagon budget.

GE was forced to buy phillips head screwdrivers from Stanley Tools in order for them to win the contract for the F404 engine used in the F/A-18. It wasn’t because the Pentagon said so, it was meddling by congress who placed the requirement into the spending bill.

Don’t forget you must leave “spirit” out when treatment vs. non-treatment.

You know, that "spirit" issue got me thinking yesterday. For some reason, Obama's comment about how we can't consider "spirit," i.e., a person's zest for life, in determining treatment made me think about the abortion issue. By the way, I assume abortions will be paid for by this government health plan, though I haven't seen that discussed.

Anyway, when it comes to those truck-sized loopholes about the "mental health of the mother" as justification for abortion, everyone has to accept the patient's word without question. So why isn't the same respect accorded to the 100 year old who wanted the pacemaker? If a woman decides her "mental health" requires an abortion, that's the end of the inquiry as far as government is concerned. If, however, a woman is 65 years old and wants to pursue aggressive cancer treatment (if her "mental health" requires her to fight), then suddenly the government has the right to make the decision for her? I see a lot of double standards when I compare the abortion debate to the health care proposals.

Print the article and 0bama’s own words. Get the pages in the hands of retired people and retirement homes. Not their children or administrators.

Actual paper copy.

Yeah, well let’s see how Obama deals with it when someone he loves who is old needs treatment. Will he do the same things we have to do????

I think you help make my point. It is the “system” that brings us all the examples you have provided - thanks. It will be NO DIFFERENT, perhaps WORSE, with the Marxist and elitist central planning going on right now, comrade.

Balack Obama will prove to be the worst thing to ever happen to this country. I am truly fearful that the not so insidious “change”, actually shock and awe strategy of this administration will cause more pain and suffering than any war or natural disaster could.

Who is behind this guy? No one knows. Does anyone care?

He didn’t really say that. He just said if they fall down and break their hips, it may be more cost effective to give ‘em pain pills, instead of a costly hip replacement.

I mean, anybody can see that, right ?
