I probably wouldn’t say all, no, but you have to admit his credibility has taken a huge hit today which would cause one to question Sanford’s convictions.
Don’t misunderstand me, I am not defending Sanford, Ensign, or any of the others. I do think they ALL had better come clean because if they don’t Rahmbo will do it for them one way or the other.

I have to admit I remain shellshocked. I still don’t know what Sanford should do. Part of me thinks he should resign, but that would leave the state in the hands of someone who is the epitome of the statist Democrat-lite RINO establishment. His first obligation is to his family. He may be in too broken a shape to complete his term, unfortunately. If he’s able to mend the damage with his family, he might be able to do so with the people of SC and conclude his term with some level of honor intact. At least he was man enough to not lie about it to our faces like a certain ex-President. The lie is worse than the sin itself.

I think Sanford is going to have to decide what is best for him, his family, his state... we all need to try and unemotionally invest in these men and women and look at them all with a honest, or as honest as possible, eye.

Who knows? Anyway, in this case Sanford was dirty, although I argued with people who made the claim before we had facts to prove it.
We're going in circles here. What you want me to apologize for is rightfully criticizing people for jumping the gun and condemning and lynching a man, a respected man, an accomplished Conservative, before he had a chance to DEFEND and explain himself. You won't ever get an apology for that. I was wrong about his conduct, but I was not wrong for chastising that lynch mob mentality. You all should've known better than to behave like a pack of hyenas and jackals. That was beneath the dignity of this website, and you know that it was.
I’ve tried to do that. A lot of folks mistook my passion for being a defender of ANYTHING that he does, and that’s not the case. As you can see, people are still angry at me because I dared stare them down when they sought to convict and lynch him before we knew the facts. I thought Conservatives behaved better than that.
My post #897 explains my position. The man was owed basic respect and common courtesy until we knew what happened as it came from his mouth. That’s what separates us from the savages. I’d offer that same defense of anyone that had earned that respect. It’s unfortunate some here don’t understand that and still wish to attack me on that point.

I agree with you but would like to expound on your point. Extramarital sex is nothing new, you can see that personally and quit often in family histories, it has ripped many families apart, that is the harm and the “sin”.
Duty and honor affects colleges and constituents more directly but it all reflects on the character of the person, their ability to doing their job but also if they subject to “pressure” because of their secrets. That is why clearances and vetting are so important.
I don’t know how Governors Sanford’s “outing” came about, we may never know, but I would suspect (looking at it now) that it was known and he refused to submit to pressure (which I would respect) or his outing was more important that what could be gained (not so much respect). I think the latter was the case with Newt Gingrich. These issues need to be dealt with reasonably and based on factual information. It that had been the case there would have been one tread with 50-100 replies which would have covered what was known.
